1955 Ford Thunderbird
If you know vintage Thunderbirds then there is a good chance you know the name Amos Minter and if you don't but are in the market for a TBird then look him up. The Minter family is based out of Dallas, TX and is known for there 55-57 Thunderbird restorations. The whole business is based strictly around TBirds so it should be obvious that these guys know the cars inside and out. In fact, a car built by them is often referred to as a "Minter Thunderbird." These cars continue to set records at auction and always pull a higher price next to another TBird not built by them. Even according to their website, "The top selling 4 Thunderbirds of the 47 Thunderbirds in the leading auctions of early 2014 were all restored by Minters Thunderbirds of Dallas." This 55 Thunderbird was fully restored by them in 2001/2002 and has been well cared for since. It has a nice finish and is painted in the original style Blue that screams 1950's! The original chrome and emblems are all cleanly mounted in place and all have a beautiful shine. The car comes with the original hardtop which allows you to transform the car from a coupe to a convertible in just minutes. The fender skirts look great in the rear and slightly cover the Kelsey Hayes wheels. Wide white wall tires are in place as well because, lets face it, the car just wouldn't look right without them.
Getting the car moving is the original 292 V8 motor under the hood. The engine has been kept with the original look down to the Thunderbird valve covers and Sea Clear windshield washing system. The car has an automatic transmission that shifts smoothly via the floor shifter in the interior. The car has a great sound with the exhaust routed out of the rear bumper like it is originally.
The interior is complete in the original Turquoise and white combination that was very nicely done. All of the original style components were used so the dash has that vintage 1955 look. An underdash AC unit is in place and blows cold. All of the stock style trim looks great gracing the dash and the original steering wheel with horn button sits in front of the driver.
Being the premier year for Thunderbird these cars are good collector cars because they are just going to become more rare and hard to find as time goes on.
