Vehicle Description
1947 Ford Super Deluxe
One of the coolest things about classic cars is all of the variety
you can choose from. From different makes to completely different
body styles within that make. There is no doubt that the late 40's
Fords have their following but you rarely see these cars out! That
is probably because the horizontal grill body style was only
present for 3 years before cars completely changed with the onset
of the shoe box Ford. The very nicely built 47 is all steel and is
extremely fun to drive. The car was built/restored approximately 5
years ago and has been well cared for and hardly ever driven since.
It also just received some new upholstery work on the inside. Look
around at some classic classifieds and you will see that it is very
difficult to get in a built up Street Rod like this for this low
price. The wide front fenders and swooping body lines give the car
a really great look that is very nostalgic. The paint on it is
fresh and was done in a bright solid red that looks great next to
the chrome and stainless. From the side pieces to the window trim,
it is all there. It has a bent style front windshield that looks
great as does all of the glass. The exterior lights all work
properly and custom old school blue dot tail lights are mounted in
the rear. Pulling in a bit more nostalgia is the tri bar style
hubcaps with thin white wall tires under each corner.
When it comes to the drive train you will find a lot of it was
newly rebuilt. The 350 V8 motor came out of a 1978 Chevrolet P/U
and fits under the hood nicely. These motors are very reliable and
being newly rebuilt it has zero issues. It starts up with ease and
has a nice smooth idle. Polished valve covers are in place with an
air cleaner scoop up top. Other nice polish parts include the
chrome alternator and polished radiator. Headers into dual exhaust
is in place and delivers a great sound routed out of the rear. The
engine compartment is very nicely done and a custom mirrored
firewall is in place which always looks great for popping the hood
at car shows. Backing up the motor is a 350 automatic transmission
that was also completely gone through and rebuilt. The car has a
power brake system in place and utilizes a dual master cylinder.
Not only does the car run well, but it is a comfortable drive too.
A Nova front end is in place with a Ford 9" found in the rear.
Moving onto the interior you will see that it is a very nice
combination of Beige with faux Red alligator that creates a very
clean look. The upholstery is very nicely done and is in great
condition. The dual high back bucket seats are very comfortable and
are easily adjustable. They sit to each side of a custom console
that houses cupholders and the aftermarket AM/FM/CD player. On the
dash are black faced gauges and the original style trim. Other
upgrades include the polished Lecarra steering wheel that is
wrapped in the same tan leather.
Overall, the car really has a very nice finish and would make a
great classic whether your the collector or novice car guy. They
marked a big change in body style for Ford and were produced for
only a few years so you can bet they are only going to be harder
and harder to find as time goes on.
