A 275 horsepower V8, it has the same EPA gas mileage as the 6-cylinder E300, E320 and 300Es : 24 highway, 18 city. In practice it exceeds that. G-Force-2 17 inch mid-profile tires all around make for utmost traction and accurate handling.
Last of the real German-made Mercedes before Mercedes began to look like Japanese cars. Its acceleration, braking and handling of the E420 are all far improved over similar W124 models such as the E300, E320 and 300E, as well as over both the lower series (C) and the higher gas guzzler series (S)

Also have another Mercedes (300E in the photos, at the end), with now 335K miles and going on towards its Million-Mile Car status. In case it needed to be retired, I bought this E420 (of the same body and exterior and interior color) from a dealer in Irvine. The 300E has been running just fine. We do not have room for both.
White areas in the console in the photo are glares due to shininess. VIN and vehicle history report available upon request, with which you can verify clean title and clean carfax, the latter showing the mileage at each servicing.
If sold today (adjusted for inflation) by MBZ the E420 would be at least $90K.
A classic, timeless style. Proven year after year surpassing new models in beauty. I drive these Mercedes in preference to newer cars because it pleases me daily seeing their contoured lines and teal body, instead of the jagged lines, seams and corners of recent cars. Both have been maintained carefully exclusively by our low-cost Mercedes mechanic service in Fremont/Hayward with 35 years experience after training in Germany. The buyer can continue that relationship. We also have a recent VW beetle convertible. We are short of room for all these cars for two people. Would like to sell one of the Mercedes. When one is sold, the other will not be available.
