For Sale: 1967 Shelby Cobra Replica in Lithia Springs, Georgia

Vehicle Description

If you're going to build a Cobra replica, why not try to make it as authentic as possible, right? This Unique Motorsports 1967 Cobra replica sports a real-deal 427 and a Toploader 4-speed, so it has the authentic driving experience, and dressed in Guards Blue with white LeMans stripes, it certainly looks like the Cobra we've all dreamed of owning since we were kids.

Finished in 1992, this car is remarkably well-preserved, indicative of careful use and conscientious ownership. With a car like this, the urge to take it out for a spin must be monumental, but it still looks fresh. The paint is perhaps one shade lighter than true Guards Blue, but there's no denying the look is 100% competition Cobra. The flared rear fenders, the curvaceous nose, and the all-business open cockpit are timeless reminders of when performance was about minimalism. The white stripes are quite nicely done, stretching from the oil cooler opening to the rear pan, and you'll note that they wrap into the engine compartment and trunk lip, evidence of careful painters at work. A chrome roll hoop for the driver, a raked windshield with wind wings, and a front grille guard add a little sparkle to the Cobra, all of it quite authentic-looking.

The white interior is a little bit of a deviation from the standard Cobra spec, but if you've got a car with no top and a fire-breathing big block up front, keeping cool is important and the white seats definitely help. Black carpets help anchor everything and don't show dirt and the door panels feature neat map pockets that are surprisingly practical. A Stewart-Warner reverse-rotation speedometer adds to the authentic feel of this Cobra, and the vintage-looking auxiliary gauges give off a period vibe. Toggle switches control the auxiliary systems, but this Cobra is definitely about performance, so there's no radio or heater. The wood-rimmed steering wheel is a reproduction Cobra piece. The trunk is simply finished in black carpets, and the car includes a convertible top, side curtains, and a tonneau cover.

But the true measure of any Cobra is the powerplant, and this one nails the authenticity meter with a real-deal 427 cubic inch Ford V8. Topped by an Edelbrock intake and a Holley double pumper inside a correct air box, it certainly looks like the Cobras of yore when you tilt the hood forward. They even worked to give the fiberglass a low-sheen finish that would look like aluminum at first glance. A correct expansion tank, finned valve covers, and twin cooling fans up front add to the correct look. Turn the key and it sparks to life through those awesome-sounding side pipes, and there really is nothing like a 427 at full song. A Ford Toploader 4-speed manual transmission pounds through the gears and feeds an independent rear end with inboard disc brakes. The front suspension consists of A-arms that approximate the original setup, and there are disc brakes up front, too. Gorgeous Compomotive knock-off replicas duplicate the original knock-off Halibrands and carry staggered 235/60/15 front and 295/50/15 rear performance radials.

If you grew up with a Cobra poster on your bedroom wall, this car will deliver one of the more authentic experiences we've seen recently. If getting it right matters, then perhaps this Cobra is the right one for you. Call today!
