Vehicle Description
This is a really nice 1979 Triumph Spitfire 1500 with the 1496cc engine with overdrive. All wiring harnesses have been replaced, as well as the brake master cylinder and clutch master cylinder. The wooden dash was all cracked and discolored, so I replaced the three pieces with some nice new maple and maple stain. The dash top was cracked and faded from the sun, as were the door panels. I replaced all of these with high quality faux leather. The seats are beautiful black vinyl and are in excellent condition. The carpet was old and torn, so I replaced all of it. The convertible top is brand new as is the tonneau cover for the convertible top. The door panels, floor, and drive tunnel have all been sound and heat insulated, so the drive is quiet and cool. The electric overdrive works beautifully, with the switch on the gear knob. All gauges work. This was made for the California market by Triumph. The car spent most of its time in California, so there is no rust anywhere. The engine runs smoothly, shifts smoothly and accelerates nicely. I replaced the muffler, the turn signal switch, washer/wiper switch (mounted on the steering column) and the hazard switch. All of these parts were purchased from authorized Triumph parts vendors both in the US and UK, and are all brand new. Trunk panels were installed with the same faux leather to enhance the overall look of the trunk. The carburetor is the original Stromberg 150 CD4T and has been completely rebuilt by British Masters. There are not many of these classic sports cars out there that are this nice for the price, so this will be gone soon!
