Description

Classic Car Marketing, Inc. Southern California’s premier marketing company is pleased to introduce this new listing offered for sale by one of our clients.
RARE 1969 Chevy Camaro COPO, Fully Restored and Fully Documented as per the owner. The COPO Camaro was what Chevrolet built to get a High Performance 427 Cubic Inch 425 Horsepower Big Block Mark IV engine into an assembly line factory Camaro. These COPO Camaros were limited production and did not show up in the official factory or showroom brochures. Most of us know of the 1969 COPO and Yenko Camaros, but the story is much more interesting. These COPO Camaros were Special High Performance Units. The 427 COPO Camaro was built for a purpose: To rule the streets and to compete and win on the drag strip. Initially accepted by the AHRA and eventually by the NHRA, 427 COPO Camaros left their mark in muscle car history! For 1969, the dealership would work with Chevrolet to have the L-72 engines installed on the factory assembly line using a Central Office Production Order, or COPO. The orders included power disc brakes, a 4.10 Positraction rear end with heat treated axle shafts, (to avoid breakage), a Z 28 front anti-sway bar, and a heavy duty 4 core radiator. Buyers of the car had the option of either the M21 or M22 four speed or the Turbo Hydromantic 400 automatic transmission. A total of 201 cars were sold in 1969: 171 with four speed transmissions and 30 with automatic transmissions. Our client a very well respected Camaro collector, found this original and correct COPO years ago. The original block had been replaced in the late 70’s with a GM replacement block, casting code and date stamp are correct for the car. The COPO has gone through a lengthy restoration and is in Number 1 condition with 427/425HP, M22 4 speed, 12 bolt 4.10 Posi, power disc brakes, HD radiator, chambered exhaust, endura bumper, gauge package, factory tach, cowl hood, front and rear spoilers, Z87 deluxe interior, console, buckets, rear window defogger, Rallye wheels, and AM/FM radio with front and rear speakers.
This is the best example of a COPO we have seen. Offered at $225,000 OBO. For more information please visit our website at www.classiccarmarketing.net or call us at 619-972-7073.
