This 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Cab . It is equipped with a Automatic transmission. The vehicle is Beige with a Brown Leather interior. It is offered As-Is, not covered by a warranty. - 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Cabriolet Chassis No. Engine No. 129.980.12.006797 One of Only 2,729 Examples Produced Equipped with Air Conditioning, Power Steering Automatic Transmission Pleasantly Maintained Restoration in Luxurious Period Colors Accompanied by copy of Mercedes-Benz DataCard In February of 1961, Mercedes-Benz introduced the new 220SE coupe. It was followed, shortly thereafter by the 220SEb cabriolet. The name was derived from the displacement of the engine, multiplied by 100, the S indicating this car was senior to Mercedes-Benz's lower priced models and the E denoting Einspritzung or fuel injection. Power came from a 2.2 liter in-line 6 cylinder engine putting out 134 horsepower at 5,000 rpm. Bosch induction manifold fuel injection was fitted and it provided the 220SE with true sports car acceleration, right up to a top speed of 105 mph. The interior of the 220SE featured a beautifully polished wood dashboard, chrome surrounds for the instruments and controls as well as plush leather upholstery throughout. The 220SEs from 1961-'66 was considered Milestone cars. Bruno Sacco, the former head of design for Mercedes-Benz, joined the design staff, early in 1958, when the 220SE was on the drawing board. He said about of that design, It was one of the most beautiful Mercedes ever designed, but not only that, it was one of the most beautiful cars ever designed, anywhere. This great example sports a nicely mellowed older restoration, finished in Light Beige metallic featuring luxurious saddle brown leather seating. All of its factory woodwork remains intact, showing only a small amount of discoloration in one lower corner of the glove box door, while the glass appears factory original and presents itself as clear and bright. Among the vintage appointments is the Becker Europa multi-band radio, Behr air-conditioning and the dash mounted electric clock, complimented by period calico Coco mats. The folding soft-top appearances fresh with clear backlight. A contemporary radio head unit, and six-disk changer accompanies for a modern audio choice. The 220 starts easily and drives well with its more powerful 250 powerplant and column mounted automatic transmission. Here is the ideal classic boulevard cruiser with plenty of room for passengers and an extra set of golf clubs. Beautifully crafted coachwork, German engineering and the hands-on assembly practices of the day, insure that all of these limitedly produced cabriolets were then and now the essence of Mercedes-Benz. $79,500.00 Offers Welcomed To learn more about this vehicle, please contact our sales department at (281) 497-1000 or Selling Made Simple.
