ABSOLUTELY FRESH, FULLY REBUILT ENGINE! Modeled after the Mako Shark show car, the new C3 generation of Corvette was introduced in 1968 with entirely new bodylines! Although not officially re-titled the “Stingray” yet, the C3 generation lasted a lengthy 15 production years with only minor changes to the exterior styling. Today, they are among the most sought after, and affordable classic Corvettes on the market today! Finished in very desirable Safari Yellow (984) over Black Vinyl Interior (Originally 402- Black Leather) with matching Black convertible top, this completely number’s matching 1968 Corvette Convertible comes loaded with options! Starting with its original 327ci V8 producing 300 horsepower, you get a Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission, factory air conditioning, power steering, power windows, power brakes, 3.08:1 Posi-Traction rear axle ratio, original pushbutton AM/FM radio, 15” Rally wheels with BF Goodrich Silvertown radial Redline tires, removable vinyl covered auxiliary hardtop, and tilt steering column! The major component numbers are below: Engine cast number: 3914678 (1968 only cast number) Engine cast date: L 28 7 (December 28th, 1967) Engine VIN stamp: 18S408755 Engine date stamp: V0104HO (January 4th, 1968) Quadrajet carburetor: 7045214 YB (just rebuilt) Transmission VIN stamp: 18S408755 Transmission code: CK 68 Rear end date code: 1AV 1 4 68 W (3.08:1 Posi-Traction HD axle, January 4th, 1968) Nearly 28,600 Corvette units were produced for this new generation Corvette, of which the majority were convertible models. Although, few likely were so favorably equipped with these options and original equipment! The exterior paint and interior seat upholstery are both relatively new, as well the folding convertible top. All of the electrical and vacuum systems are functional including the interior fiber optic lights, courtesy lamps, headlight doors & lights, dash lights, wipers door & arms, horn, etc. The brake calipers appear to have been replaced for stainless steel versions. And more recently in March of 2014, it received a complete engine overhaul. Starting with a cleaned & boiled block, it was bored by Shreves Engine Rebuilders to receive new flat top pistons & rings, new freeze plugs, reconditioned rods, all new rod, cam, & main bearings, camshaft & lifters, timing chain set, new oil pump, rebuilt carburetor, and new flywheel. The original heads were resurfaced and received a valve job to include fresh valves, valve guides & seats, springs & retainers. All gaskets are new as is the entire ignition system. The air conditioner has been converted to R134a with a new remanufactured compressor, new condenser, receiver dryer, lines, expansion valve, and updated POA valve, etc. It blows cold for summertime enjoyment. After this completion, a new exhaust system from the manifolds back was installed, along with new headlight & wiper actuators with new hoses, and a brand new starter, battery, and all fluids. It is ready for the next owner to enjoy for years to come! Please feel free to call with additional questions or to schedule an opportunity to view the car in person. Thanks for looking!
