ONE OF ONLY 243 EXAMPLES PRODUCED! CLASSIC BRIGHT RED OVER WHITE CONVERTIBLE! FACTORY EQUIPPED WITH M-CODE V8, AIR CONDITIONING, POWER BRAKES & STEERING, AUTOMATIC, AND MORE! SOLID CAR WITH ONLY 2 DOCUMENTED OWNERS FROM NEW! There is perhaps no car more iconic representative of the muscle car era than the Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback. Begun in 1969 as a means of enabling the Mustang to compete with GM’s Camaro and Firebird, the Mach 1 evolved as a powerful car and a powerful statement over the course of its abbreviated five-year run. This wonderful 1971 Ford Mustang Convertible is refinished in its original color code of Bright Red paint, correct White Ruffino/Corinthian vinyl interior and new, matching White power convertible top with correct glass backlite. This handsome car is truly a rare find and comes well equipped with features such as the M-code 351ci V8-4bbl engine, C6 Cruise-O-Matic transmission, bucket seats with center console, power steering, power front disc brakes, Selectaire air conditioning, tachometer instrumentation group, AM/FM Stereo radio, 3.00:1 ratio rear end, front spoiler, polished 15” Magnum 500 wheels fitted with BF Goodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires, color keyed racing mirrors, complete tinted glass, Heavy Duty battery, and so much more! Boasting only 88,413 actual miles, this exceptionally solid Mustang proves that is has brilliantly cared for but its two documented owners from new, with only one repaint of the exterior in 1999. The only upgrades include the wheel & tire upgrade (hubcaps & trim rings included with sale), new front seat upholstery & seat foams, new convertible top, as well as the addition of the front chin spoiler. Our car began life in September 1970, and sold new from Vincent Ford-Mercury located in Cottonwood, Arizona on October 14th, 1970. The original owner kept this car for only the first two years, before its second owner took possession in 1973. He kept the car in Phoenix through 1985, before bringing it to the St. Louis area until when we purchased it in September 2013. All service records dating back to 1973 are included! Major maintenance included a transmission rebuild at 65,000 miles, new gas tank & fuel pump in 2002, and new exhaust in 2013. All oil changes, coolant & transmission flushes, suspension components & alignments, and overhauled carburetor by Pony Carbs, Inc. fill in the gaps from year-to-year. Also included with be an original operations manual, maintenance booklet, registration paperwork supporting the original miles, and a Deluxe Marti Report! For those seeking an uncommon emerging classic muscle car to drive or collect, there will be few more important cars than this last of the great Mustangs. This convertible example represents 1 of only 414 built with this engine/transmission combination offering 285 horsepower, and 1 of only 243 Mustangs built in this wonderful color combination!! All factory driveline components tags are still present on this car. These rare convertibles are still attainable for most enthusiasts, however, they have gained the attention of a vast worldwide classic car marketplace and are leaving our shores in record numbers. We suggest serious potential buyers contact us quickly to secure best investment value. All cars are advertised locally and nationally.
