The original 911 SCRS was a Group B car developed by Porsche for the 1984 rally season. Just twenty examples were produced to satisfy the FIAs competition homologation process with five examples being supplied to the crack UK Prodrive outfit to run as part of the works assisted Rothmans Porsche rally team. Underneath the dramatic exterior, the SC RS was powered by a 3.0 high compression engine on mechanical fuel injection and produced 255BHP @7,000 RPM in standard form. With Prodrives meticulous preparation, these Rothmans backed 911s during their short career performed with the Middle East rally championship being lifted by Al Hajri in 1984 whilst in Europe Henri Toivonen just missed out on the European crown after a back injury forced him to miss the Manx rally. In 1985 the Middle East championship was won again by Al Harjri whilst the Irish Rally title was lifted by Billy Morgan. Today if one of these rare competition Porsches were to be offered for sale it could certainly command in excess of £300,000. This Evocation 911 is a visual replica of the original rally car featuring genuine Porsche panels, but is not mechanically built to the exact specification of the rally car. However with its lightweight and 3.0 mechanical fuel injected engine, it has been developed into a formidable circuit/ trackday car that unlike the original is road legal. Producing circa 260BHP, it pulls like a train up to 8,500RPM with instant throttle response and a fabulous soundtrack which cannot be captured with later injection engines. The engine was built by DSD Motorwerks to the following specification: New Mahle 3.0 Nikasil cylinders with high compression 9:5:1 pistons and new piston rings. New GE60 camshafts. Reconditioned MFI fuel pump to RS 3.0 specification. New timing chains and chain guides and tensioners. New main and big end bearings. New coil and leads. New head studs and gaskets. Stacks re -machined with 42mm butterflies Valves 42mm inlet/ 46mm oulet RSR lower pulley Lightweight ‘Amber‘ GRP replacement for tin wear. K an N watershield type air filters. Additional new or refurbished parts include: Front cross member and steering rack Front wishbones Suspension including new shocks and anti- roll bar bushes all round Fuel tank Fuel lines Braking system including master cylinder and brake lines 3.2 Carrera discs and calipers Custom oil system with RSR front oil cooler Rebuilt 915 gearbox This is a fun 911 that is genuinely quick and engaging to drive whilst its dramatic appearance guarantees attention where ever you go. Interestingly unlike the original, this car has been based on a genuine 1974 RHD 911 so could if required be further developed into a 3.0 RS/RSR Evocation from the 74 era with FIA papers. Either option would ensure that its new custodian has a car that that will off the same looks and performance for a fraction of an original. *Please note that the interior is currently in the process of converting it into period lightweight specification. The last photo in the series represents what the interior will look similar to upon completion. Please call today for further information.
