The pre 73 911s are probably the prettiest cars Porsche made and very desirable to own but ultimately have limitations for daily use today with minimal rust protection and less robust mechanicals than modern cars. The new series 2 PS Classic Touring was created for the discerning owner who seeks the authentic timeless style of the 911 from this period but requires a car for daily use. The exterior (and in standard models interior) faithfully capture the appearance of the cars from this era whilst the rebuilt and uprated mechanicals provide a reliable and enhanced driving experience for the requirement of today's motoring. Unlike Original 70s 911s, The PS Classic Touring is a practical car that can be used 365 days a year and has the performance to easily keep pace with modern traffic together with minimal preventative maintenance and total reliability. This is the first example of our Series 2 Classic Touring and was completely rebuilt from the ground up into an as new car to the customers own specification and finished in a genuine period colour of light ivory. The body shell features all new panels from the pre 73era in steel together with the correct period anodised frames and chrome work. The wheels are genuine 7"x15" Fuchs all round with 195/65/15 tyres to give enhanced grip and road holding, whilst a set of period 6"x15" wheels are available for absolute authentic appearance if preferred. Internally the interior does move away from absolute originality but is bespoke and unique. Period features like the early style door trims, aluminium dashboard and switch gear had to be created, but it was also specifically designed with long distance touring and comfort in mind so these had to be carefully integrated with some discreet modern enhancements. Modifications included moving the seating position further back for increased leg room together with the fitting of genuine electrically adjustable Porsche sports seats from a later era to offer good upper support but with modified lower squabs to comfortably accommodate a larger person. Bespoke luggage boxes were built into the rear in place of the rear seats to increase soft luggage space and a modern air conditioning system was installed to offer a pleasant environment when travelling through the south of France. The car was then trimmed in ‘Poppy Red‘ leather with contrasting grey ‘Boucle‘ carpets bound in leather. Mechanically everything was rebuilt where possible with new components. This included a new factory wiring loom, brakes, suspension, engine components, lighting, switches etc. The gearing in the G50 gearbox was revised to improve high speed cruising whilst the suspension was tuned for comfort but retaining a precise steering feel. This car is very special and cost circa £165,000 to produce and you would be correct to question having gone to all this effort to create it, why is it now available for sale? The customer has also recently taken delivery of another unique PS, a 911 Speedster, this was initially intended to be kept alongside the Coupe for fine weather only but has been made so useable and completely waterproof that suddenly the Coupe is surplus to requirements. With a two year delivery time for a new build; this is a unique opportunity to acquire a bespoke and stunning car for immediate use. Technical Specifications: Performance: 0-60mph in 6.1 seconds.
