This has been a garaged & pampered car, taken out on sunny weekends for the occasional cruise. It has had much work performed over recent years including paint, chrome, mechanical restoration work, etc. I will detail in the our description. This car was purchased as a special 50th wedding anniversary present. The owner had a new 55 when he started dating his wife. They did not keep the car for a long period of time, so years later they decided to find another. It showcases its correct two-tone colors and is just a very nice car. From the previous owners desk (January, 2005) Here are some things done to the Pontiac prior to 2005. The carburetor is rebuilt. The fuel pump is rebuilt. The gas tank was sent off to Arizona, cleaned and sealed at Tank Review. The fuel sending unit was replaced. The starter was rebuilt. The power steering sector was removed and rebuilt. The power brakes were redone, vacuum booster and lines rebuilt. A Petronix electronic ignition was installed. The heater cores both defrost and under seat are new. The battery and hoses were replaced. The exterior was completely repainted and all chrome front and rear restored (plated). The convertible top was replaced along with the convertible pump line set and a replaced hydraulic piston. The Coker whitewall radials were installed along with new OEM-type carpeting. The transmission seals were replaced. The U-joints have been replaced front & rear. The front end sway bar bushings have been replaced. The tie rod ends have been replaced. The engine and transmission mounts have been replaced. The exhaust system was replaced. Also, in 2005 the shocks were replaced and the wheel cylinders were honed and brakes replaced. The rear leaf springs were replaced, shackles and bushings. Front and rear seat belts were installed. We have receipts for the following work performed ; In 2006, the hood hinges were replaced. The continental spare tire carrier assembly was serviced. Various moldings and gaskets were replaced along with rubber weatherstrip. The front and rear seat upholstery was replaced with OEM correct type upholstery along with the door panels. The stunning wire wheels were installed in 2007 at a cost of approximately $1,500 for the wheels alone. 1955 was a banner year for Pontiac. Although the Star Chief made its debut in the 1954 model year, It was back for 55 with a brand new design and V8 power to boot. The paint and body are in excellent condition as is the factory bright work. This is a stunning car with few flaws to be found. The two-tone paint is finished in Bolero Red & Castle Grey, the correct color codes this Pontiac was born with. Pontiacs Star Chief features much more standard equipment than a Chevrolet at the time. These cars even featured some equipment offered in Buicks. The windshield was a wrap-around design, Pontiacs first application of this feature. The Silver Streaks bright work is unmistakably Pontiac. Open the doors to 1955. The interior is beautifully restored to origina
