A very unique 1956 Ford Mainline (salesman's coupe). This car has been redone with a 302 Mercury V-8 and three speed automatic transmission. It rides on 20 inch Boss wheels in the rear and 18s in the front. The car has working vintage air conditioning, power steering, and power brakes (disks in front). The color is original to the car -- although originally it was all blue. All chrome and bright-work is excellent.

The interior has been totally redone in black/light tan -- with a front bench seat and gear shift on the floor. The gauges are new. This car is a "salesman's coupe edition" -- designed for use by traveling salesman. As a result, there is no rear seat which enabled the rear area to be used for a salesman's sample cases. Instead there is the factory-installed floor that is on top of the transmission tunnel. (I do however have springs and seat frame for the back seat). Embossed into the rear window deck is the "FORD" logo. Into the rear area is embossed "56". Both are very tastefully done.

The car runs and drives great. Last summer I took it to Louisville, Ky as well as Detroit for the Woodward Dream Cruise.

The car has 3000 miles since being restored. Unlike 55-57 Chevrolets, You see very few other mid-50s Ford Mainlines. This is a unique car that you can drive anywhere. If you wish to take this car to cruise-ins and car shows, you can feel confident that you will rarely run into another one.
