1952 MG TD—the Iconic British Sports Car
This 1952 MG TD is a very nicest example of the iconic TD. Our model is fully and tastefully equipped with:
• Great paint
• Perfect interior
• Rebuilt engine
• Fresh leather upholstery & new carpet
• Five chrome wire wheels
• Moto-Lita Wood Steering Wheel
• Walnut Burl Wood Dash face
• All new wood in the body framework
If it was needed to make this car first-rate, it was done.
They don’t get much Nicer!
• Paint and Chrome
The color-change red respray is just short of show quality and considerably above the finish quality when the car left the factory in Abingdon, England 60 years ago.
The chrome ranges from very good to good, with the exception of the chrome “bumperettes” which show signs of cosmetic deterioration.
The body and underside of the car appear free of rust and it is clear that this MG has been garaged and well taken care of.
The seat upholstery and door panels were all redone in tan (leather on the seating surface) and makes an excellent contrast with the red exterior. The door panels are in excellent condition and look new. The new carpet is a matching black.
A touch of elegance is provided with a wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel and a new polished burled walnut wood dash facing.
The tan canvas convertible top is in very nice condition, having been recently replaced, although this isn’t a car that will see rain other than from inside a garage.
The car’s 1,250 cc engine is believed to be the original engine and has been rebuilt according to a prior owner. It starts right up and runs well. It is nestled in a partially-detailed engine bay.
The transmission, also believed to be original to the car, shifts properly, executing upshifts and downshifts properly.
• Tires, Safety and Monitoring Systems
This TD has five 165 SR 15 tires mounted on chrome wire wheels with traditional knock-off hubs. All of the engine/systems monitoring gauges (temperature, fuel and oil pressure) work properly. Similarly, the speedometer and tachometer work, as do the lights, wipers and horn. As an aside, this TD does not have a heater, so unless you are from the south, you may want to let this great car sit out the cold weather in your heated garage!
A Very Nice Example of one of England’s Most Loved Sports Cars
Finding a nicely restored example of the very popular TD series is getting tough to do. These cars are highly in demand and therefore represent not just a great driving experience but a sound investment as well. And if there was ever a sports car that made you feel as if you are driving through the British countryside, this MG TD is it!
AND . . . it’s FUN!
This TD offers as much fun as one can reasonably have with a car—the wind in your face, the sound of the exhaust in your ears, and at 50 mph you feel like you are doing 100! This MG-TD is a car that would be fun to take to the store, fun to drive to a restaurant and fun to take to local car shows or cruise-ins. If you are familiar with TDs, you will love this one; if you are not, stop by for a look . . . and some fun.
