For all you big car lovers here is one that you do not see that often in such great conditions and customization.
Numbers matching, frame-on restoration complete with pictures and receipts of the build. This is a 1970 2-Door Oldsmobile 98 Holiday Coupe with 58k original miles. Yes, I said original miles because this has been in my family since it was bought brand new off a lot in Big Springs, Texas in 1970 by my grandfather.
After it was passed down to me I did a restoration on the car to give it more flare but yet retain all the styling. The car was completely stripped down to metal and all the large side molding was removed and the door handles were smoothed over then a beautiful black saffire metallic BMW paint code was applied. The car is rust free and has most of the front end suspension components painted in POR-15 rust proof black. The front end was completely went through with new ball joints, upper and lower polyurethane bushings and new shocks. The car is very slightly lowered it give it that perfect stance. New brake pads all the way around as well as new calipers.
Although the engine has very low miles, I decided to complete go through the motor and give it fresh new piston rings, bearings, modern hydraulic cam, oiling system upgrades, adjustable roller rockers, stock heads with 3-angle valve jog and new hardend valve seats to run unleaded gas, aluminum intake and a professionally built stock quadrajet. The engines starts up perfect and purrs down the road….this is the Rocket 455 engine that has tons of torque to move this beast down the road. It has a TH400 transmission that shifts perfectly though the gears. The numbers are matching for the engine and transmission. Just installed a new air conditioning system: compressor, expansion valve, dryer, flushed lines and new charge and is blowing cold.
The interior of this car is outstanding for 42 years old and in 95% original condition with only the carpet being replaced to match the paint job. All the interior was lined with sound proofing material before reassembled. The seats are all in good shape with no tears in them and the dash is complete with no cracks or chips. I installed a custom center console to house gauges and a modern radio as not to disturb any of the stock components; can be easily removed if wanted. It has customer kick panels to house a very nice stereo system. The headliner is in perfect condition. Oldsmobile was ahead of their time and this was their flag ship as it has; power windows, push button AC and heat controls, tilt and telescope steering wheel, 8-way adjustable BENCH seat, electric auto pop trunk. I installed the auto door poppers to open the doors without handles and you also have modern cruise control.
The truck is HUGE and was also sound proofed and is in great solid condition. The car has a very strong and correctly installed sound system without cutting any holes or panels out to make room for speakers. The car retains all the original interior features.
The alignment on this car is great and runs down the road straight, smooth and feels like a cushion of air. Most people don’t even know what kind of car it is and it constantly gets looks and is a conversation piece. It is mechanically sound and ready to be enjoyed, a great cruising car.
Clean Texas title and antique plates good till 3/2018.
