Description

Kept in doors for 20 yrs. Owned by a creative Porsche builder in Tenn. One of 16 cars built bit by bit over the years. With the care only a mother can give. This car had a special touch provided by the factory with Jade green paint. Only a handful of all Porsche cars from that era with this factory but non production color. Meticulously repainted 1 1/2 yrs ago. This unusual color catches the eye and turns heads wherever it goes.
The cars from the mid 70’s being some of the first to enter the USA with safety and performance specifications were viewed as different from the early Porsche’s that were lighter and had a sleeker curb appeal. Many aficionados turned their nose's up at these cars. A time the Porsche’s from 50’s to the early 70’s were segmented as the group of highly sought after cars for many reasons not the least of which was that they were carbureted. The mid 70’s cars came to the USA with, as time has now unmasked, a CIS injection fuel system that could have spent a little more time on the test tract before they hit the American highways. Fortunately many of the mechanics and builders were up for the challenge the injection systems posed.
Unfortunately this Porsche fell victim to the CIS injection. Fortunately it was in the hands of an expert engine builder who quickly rebuilt the original motor to RS specifications with Weber carburetors in the 80’s. Changing hands only once. It ended up back in the hands of the original builder and stored for many years. I was able to purchase the car after the repaint and had the car gone through by a top Porsche group the Philadelphia area. With a clean bill of health the car is now for sale.
Though some modifications for safety and performance for the American car market. Porsche’s through the mid 70’s held the mystique of the Porsche reputation up to that time only when they were in the right hands of someone who knew the cars well enough to step up and make the necessary upgrades for the cars. Up to the time when the factory addressed their own issues with the introduction of the 1978 911SC. This car could not have been in any better hands. Because of the artistic and mechanical talent of the builder the car survives today.
They don’t build this type of car any more. This is a chance to own this era car at a reasonable price. It won’t be long before it comes in to its true value. For the driving enthusiast it’s a lot of fun to drive. When you call on it. Those weber’s open up right in your ear. Car nuts will love it.
