This '71 Volvo 1800E was ordered through Nemet Auto International on October 5, 1970 directly from the Volvo factory and delivered to its military owner on April 13, 1971. Nemet was a company endorsed by the US military for returning servicemen to supply new European cars at dealer cost, and we returning Vietnam vets all drooled over their catalogs. SSgt Walter B. Pritchett, a career Marine & veteran of both the Korean & Vietnam wars with the MACS6 Landing Force, ordered his dream car, this Volvo 1800E, through Nemet and took delivery of it in Jacksonville, Florida. From that day on, it was his pride & joy, kept at SSgt Pritchett's duty station in southern California until military discharge in 1972, then at his Arizona home. It was last registered for the highway in 1973 and his 1973 Arizona license plate is still fitted. He has now passed away and his sister sold the car to us as part of his estate. All of the original paperwork, original documents, original Nemet catalog, and the original factory invoice are included. The SSgt's handwritten correspondence with Nemet is in the folder and the Owner's Manual and factory service manual are also included. The car has always been driven several times each year to keep all systems in good order and the miles are actual at 32,867. Everything works properly and the car is literally as close to new as is possible. Literally flawless, the only flaw is one hairline crack on the steering wheel rim and another in its center due to heat. The car has always been covered; the body is 100% original; the original tires have been replaced due to age, as has the original hoses & belts. There is absolutely no wear on the leather seats, the carpets, or any of the controls. No wear on the original pedals or steering wheel. The car drives perfectly and there are no issues. The paint is excellent but has been expertly resprayed once due to age. The rubber weatherstripping and window surrounds are excellent. The fuel-injected 2.0 liter four fires right up, runs perfectly, and pulls nicely through the rev range. Rated at 130 horsepower, these cars are a lot of fun to drive and feel on par with a pre-emission TR6 Triumph; easily keeping up with modern traffic. The transmission shifts perfectly and the electric overdrive allows relaxed highway driving. There is no play in the suspension, no rattles, no squeaks, and the car drives as new. This is probably the lowest mile, one-owner 1800E in the States and is a rare find. Exceptional. ps. the polished trim rings were not installed on the wheels when photographed but are now installed. We will re-photograph the car and post the new photos soon. Visit to see our other classic cars and vintage motorcycles
