Introduced in 1929, the Humber 16/50 was the replacement for the ageing 14/40 model. The new 16/50 boasted a smooth 6 cylinder, 7 bearing engine engine, with the well established IOE engine layout that Humber had used since 1922. New features included coil ignition, mechanical fuel pump and Bendix brakes. Fixtures and fittings were of the high quality expected from this manufacturer and the 16/50 appealed to the discerning professional and middle class motorist of the period. First registered in February 1932, this 16/50 saloon remains in very original order. Clearly it has been carefully ‘preserved and conserved’ rather than restored and it has much character and charm as a result. Paperwork supplied shows just 5 owners from new and we are told that the car has been carefully stored for long periods of its life, which accounts for the delightfully original condition. The interior has survived particularly well, with the tan leather seats being supple and very comfortable. There is also a large sunshine roof and a luggage carrier. The car drives very well with ample power and it has considerable presence on the road, attracting much interest on a recent run. There is a buff RF60 logbook, dating back to 1953, attesting to the original Birmingham registration number, along with a later green VE60 book. Also provided are a near-mint copy of the Driver’s Instruction Book, a Spare parts List, a number of old tax discs and a letter from The Humber Register. For more information please call me on 07710-364945 or 01420-474919. We are located south of the Hindhead Tunnel (A3) between Petersfield and Alton. Viewing by prior appointment please. Delivery can be arranged at very competitive rates.
