Description

War time vehicles are going to be big news this year, with the 70th anniversary of D-Day looming, so if you want to join in the fun at reasonable cost this could be just the thing. It is a Willys MB Jeep dating from 1944 and, as an older restoration, it has just the right patina. We do like our military vehicles to look like they have seen some action! We believe the Jeep had major restoration work around 15 years ago, which included a new body tub and front wings, rewiring, new front seat canvas, full weather gear and new wheels and tyres. The rear seat appears to be the original springs and horsehair type. There is evidence of some historic chassis repairs and the structure is now completely sound; it passed the MOT test with no issues. After a long period in storage it has just had a extensive programme of recomissioning work, including full brake overhaul, new exhaust, new 6-volt battery. driver's side windscreen and a full service. The current owner has added lots of nice little details such as the Pioneer tools and siren, so there are plenty of toys to play with. The Jeep is an easy starter and soon settles down to a smooth and quiet tickover. It pulls really strongly and the gearbox is very easy to use. Everything seems to work as it should and - like all Jeeps - it is great fun to drive. It also really looks the part with its faded paint and canvas. If you are a detail-obsessed perfectionist then this is probably not the Jeep for you, but then perfection comes at a very much higher price. If you want one to use immediately, get muddy and enjoy to the full, it is great value.
