1969 Chevelle SS Convertible So you are in the market for a classic 1969 Chevelle and are in search of the elusive SS. Hopefully you have discovered by now that finding something called a 69 Chevelle SS may not be difficult but verifying its authenticity is. The year 1969 gave one of the most sought after Chevelles to the world and also guaranteed many headaches for classic car buyers/sellers in the future. Since you could no longer verify whether a car was a true SS by the VIN or body tags you can bet a few crooks had the bright idea to start selling Malibus as Super Sports, especially with how popular these cars have become. It is unfortunate that if you counted up the 1969 SS cars out there the number would probably exceed the productions numbers from the factory. All this means is that when you plan to buy one you just have to be careful what you are getting. That is why this car is so special. In most cases the only way to verify the authenticity is from an original build sheet which is a piece of paper you hope survived over 40 years. Well this Monaco Orange Chevelle doesnt need one! Since this color was ONLY applied to Super Sports that is all you need to prove its originality. How? Well the body tag of course! What becomes the frustration on most Chevelles is actually the proof for this classic being real since it has the original tag with the original paint code of 72, Monaco Orange. Well now that you know the car is real, lets tell you a little bit more about why this beautiful 1969 Chevelle SS Convertible stands out above the rest. Not only is it a real Super Sport but it is a factory AC convertible car that has been redone to an immaculate condition. In 2004 the car was completely disassembled and restored being reassembled with all new GM and NOS parts. Every piece was gone through and replaced. It is painted the code 72 Monoco Orange with a Black side stripe which is a rare color to have. The front and rear bumpers are original from the factory but were re-chromed. All of the lighting was gone through with new side marker bezels, new GM light, new brake lenses, new chrome tail light bezels, new T3 headlights, and new headlight bezels. All of the stainless was new including the new grill, new eyebrow moldings, new emblems, and more. There is not really another way to say it then EVERYTHING is new. The Black convertible top was completely replaced as was the top boot. It raises and lowers with ease just as it would originally. The car currently sits on 15 inch SS wheels with BF Goodrich tires. However, if you would prefer the original set of 5 date coded 14 inch wheels with Firestone fiberglass tires can be put on the car for no charge or purchase in addition to the SS wheels for a small added fee. There are currently only miles on the car with only 1000 being put on it in the past 8 years since it was restored. Since completion the car was in a tempered storage system and was meticulously maintained. Despite spending a lot of time in storage the car was kept in perfect looking and running condition so it can be shown throughout the year. It has been named one of the top three 1969 SS Convertibles at the Chevellabration National car show and repeatedly takes home the highest awards. The car truly is beautiful and has the look you would expect to see fresh of the factory line. The drive train on the car is in just as perfect quality as the rest. The 396/325HP motor runs extremely well and has a beautiful sound. The rebuild included multiple new components in addition to a new cam, valve job, timing chain, as well as all of the seals and gaskets. It has standard bore pistons and performs extremely well. Other restored components include the new fuel pump, new power steering pump, all new hoses, new starter, new water pump, new alternator, new air cleaner, new GM heater hoses, new bypass hose, new radiator hoses, new PCV valve/hose (all GM), new GM dated plug wires and more! There is no way to possibly list every little piece that was replaced on the car. There is no doubting this restoration was an act of love for old cars because chasing down all of those original GM components could take a lifetime! As mentioned before, the car has a great sound which is provided by the ceramic coated exhaust manifolds and new 2.5 inch aluminize exhaust which route through GM hangers into GM SS exhaust tips on Flowmaster mufflers. The Muncie M22 transmission utilizes the correct Muncie shifter with 2 piece shift ball and sends power back to the 12 bolt positrac rear end with 331 gears. Both the transmission and rear end were entirely gone through and professionally built to the factory specifications. The entire front end was gone through with everything replaced including the ball joints, tie rods, pitman arm, a arms and inner fenders. Many of these components like the a arms and transmission cross member have been powder coated for a clean finish. All new springs are found throughout with the factory F41 suspension being entirely restored with new bushings and front/rear sway bars. All of the brand new KYB gas shocks have been were painted the correct GM grey. The entire original AC system was gone through with all new hoses, a new poa valve, new heater valve, pressure lines, drier, heater core, A6 compressor and it now blows cold with ZERO issues. New disc brakes were installed up front and all of the lines, hoses, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, correct CAD coated brake booster and drums are new as well! The level of detail on this cars restoration is something you really rarely see. Details were meticulously thought out even things like the new GM washer bottle and mounting bracket. The interior, as you can imagine, was entirely gone through as well. It has new PUI upholstery in front, rear and on the door panels. A new Goodmark dash was added and utilizes the Delco AM/FM factory green light radio (which was restored to GM specs), the GM factory 8 track, ash tray handle, and speakers. Even small details like the GM map light mirror and lens on the AC controls were replaced. The clock was restored with quartz movement along with everything else. The car utilizes a tilt steering column which has been topped off with the wood grain factory steering wheel that looks right at home. You really wont find a single weak area on this car. Is was built to be one of the nicest 69 Chevelle SS Convertibles cars in the country and has continued to live up to that name. Being a convertible with factory AC is a big plus on the car because it just makes it that much more rare. Whether you are looking for a beautiful classic to show or something to tuck away as an investment this is the car for you. Why buy stock/bonds when you can buy this car, hide it away for 20 years, and then be the next biggest hit at Barrett Jackson! Make this a part of your collection for $59,250.00!
