Finished in black and silver, this is an exceptionally fine example of the very useable and enjoyable R Types, which we have felt for a long time to be under rated and therefore very good value for money. The car is in lovely condition with fairly recent new leather, woodwork finished to an extremely high standard, excellent headlining, etc. Complete with small and larger tools, and the original HMV radio, which been overhauled and converted for FM reception. Fitted with inertia reel seatbelts, driving nicely, and MoT tested until November 2014. Chassis No. B150SR. Reg No NNB 600. £36,500. Snippets – The Mills : James Lye Esq took delivery of B150SR at his home of Mount Healey on the outskirts of Rochdale. James was a scion of the Lye family who had many interests in the Mills of the area & James himself started life as an Office Boy and by the time of his death in 1960 had become a director of the Castleton Estates. There is also a Fuschia which carries the name “James Lye” having been cultivated by another gentleman bearing the name James Lye (1830/1906) who was head gardener for Hon Mrs. Hay at Clyffe Hall in Market Lavington. This James Lye raised between 50 & 60 varieties of Fushias many of which are still around today.
