Description

The last of the MGA 'breed' with a high compression 1622cc engine, disc brakes....the fastest and best of the pushrod As. TWO owners since new, , restored a number of years ago (before sale to 2nd owner), excellent rust free body, excellent red paint, beautiful patina on n early new (leather, not vinyl) red interior, red dashboard (original), original AM radio, tan top and side curtains, excellent original side curtain bag behind the seats, wire wheels, excellent drive train (perfect compression, perfect oil pressure, no smoke, excellent trans with perfect synchromesh action), original factory oil cooler with spin on oil filter, lovely chrome and trim, as nice an MGA as one would like to have for street of low key show use. Falcon stainless steel exhaust, brakes just done (including flex lines and master cylinder), new wiring harness with cloth covering, beautiful (original?) chrome, original owner's manual, incredibly detailed notes from first owner (1962-1997) including a listing of putting it in storage every winter, every receipt from the last owner (who told us he spent $14,000 on the car over the years), perfect battery boxes, perfect wood floors, fairly new radials on nicely painted wire wheels, great 'original' details throughout. A sensational car for anyone but especially for someone who values originality. Went over the body with a magnet, only place it didn't stick was on the lower part of the front fender behind the front right wheel. Uh, oh...not a virgin. But otherwise, maybe 95% bondo free? With no bubbles or cracks anywhere. When I discuss the relative merits of a TR3 and an MGA, I generally mention 'oh, well, the MGA drives better BUT the TR3 is faster.' This particular MGA is one of the fastest MGAs I have ever driven. Day it came in, took it out on the local highway, hit the redline in top gear....105 mph....quickly and easily. THIS CAR REALLY GOES. And to make my little test drive even more interesting, took it down to 600 rpm in top gear, no faster than a walking pace, and it pulled away smoothly. Incredible flexibility and wonderful performance.
