Description

1958 Chevrolet Impala Vin: F58K135420 - 51,372 actual miles - 348CI 280HP Tri-Power three two-barrel V8 engine matching numbers - Two toned Cay Coral and Arctic White option code #980E - Automatic Powerglide Transmission - Fender skirts - Continental kit - Same owner since the early 1980s - Cassette player and AM radio with twin antennas - Power steering and brakes - Wide whitewall tires - Full wheel covers - Three piece sectional bumpers The 1958 Chevrolet Impala was a notable car for several reasons. For one thing, this was the first time that Chevrolet used the model name Impala. This was also the first Chevrolet to use the quad headlight design. The 1958 Chevrolet was an unusual one-year only design. In the past and for many years after, Chevrolet would use the same body style for two or three years with only trim changes on a particular body style. However, the 1958 Chevrolet neither resembles the 1957 nor the 1959 Chevrolets. The Impala model can be distinguished from the remainder of the Bel Air models by the chrome trim mounted in front of the rear wheels and the Impala insignia mounted higher up on the rear fender. The Impala model was available as a 2-door hardtop coupe or as a 2-door convertible. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to offer this Cay Coral and Arctic White 1958 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe that is in excellent original condition with many original parts still on the car. The previous owners referred to this car as their 58 Gem and had a professional repaint several years ago of the original factory colors. The paint still shows extremely well today, with some signs of age. The exterior is in excellent shape with all the correct trim pieces all in place. All the exterior stainless steel trim is original and the sectional chrome three piece bumpers are in stellar condition with amazing shine. The Artic White top is in great shape with some very minor imperfections. The Cay Coral body paint is in excellent overall condition and looks absolutely fantastic for an older old paint job but does have some very minor chips and road wear. The rear continental kit is complete, functional, and in great shape. The wheels have full wheel covers wrapped with wide whitewall tires. Inside, the Coral interior is in great condition and shows minimal wear. The seats, dash and center console all look great as well as the door panels and headliner. All interior roof chrome is original and in excellent shape. A couple of the passenger side dash inserts do have some delamination. The gauges, lights, blinkers, wipers and horn are in working order. The original tube radio works but has weak reception. Under the hood you will find the matching numbers Chevrolet 348CI 280HP V8 engine matched with the correct Tri-Power three two-barrel carburetor. The transmission is an automatic 2-speed Powerglide. The current mileage shows 51,372 miles and is believed to be original. VIN number is F58K135420 and this Impala was produced at the Kansas City plant. Included with the car is a metal sheet listing facts and specifications about the car which was used for display at car shows, a Chevrolet Heritage ball cap with hard to find vintage pins, and a 1958 Chevy Anniversary Lineup poster. Driving Impressions: This 58 Chevrolet Impala has a tasteful two toned color combination and it really captures that flavor of 1950s styling. First impression I received when viewing the car is how it shows that it has been well cared for throughout its entire life. The paint shows beautifully and its hard to believe it was done over 25 years ago and insures the point of a super well cared for American classic. Stepping inside the Coral color continues to complement the interior nicely and the overall interior looks correct. The Impala starts up and the Chevy 348 engine sounds wonderful in this Chevy Sport Coupe. Driving down the road the Impala feels very solid and refined thanks to Chevys
