Chassis number '2M0747' is one of the very first cars completed in December 1929 (Hence Tax Exemption) at MG's new Abingdon factory where production had shifted from Edmund Road in Cowley. Indeed, correspondence on file suggests that it is only the second car completed at Abingdon and the oldest known surviving car. The car's Triple-M Register entry lists owners going back to the 1970s and records that the original engine 'MG594A' was replaced with 'MG526A' by the factory and then in later years replaced with 'MG6347A. A typed sheet on file records details of the MG's restoration, which included a new plywood body tub, chassis re-rusted and Hammerited, new piped leather upholstery and carpets to original pattern, New tonneau cover, partial engine rebuild, new clutch, new battery and all ancillaries either new or re-conditioned. The gearbox is the rare and desirable optional four-speeder. A super little M-Type, well restored and ready to enjoy, 'VR 4730' is offered Tax and MOT Exempt plus Fully serviced. A Rare little car with good provenance and known History. An appreciating British Classic which Presents beautifully.
