Per the VIN decoder, this notchback Mustang was built on January 18th 1965 as a 289ci 2dr Hardtop with Automatic transmission and finished in Silver Smoke Grey Metallic. Latterly imported into the UK, it was deemed as an ideal donor for a Historic racecar and has had vast expense lavished in order to present it in its current condition. Initially the shell went to highly regarded preparer Rae Davis Racing. The main assembly and preparation though has been carried out by the talented guys at CCK Historics in Kent with all invoices for their work and the parts purchased on file. It is fitted with a 6 point roll cage by CAGED Manufacturing Ltd, has a COBRA Evolution Pro Seat with TRS Race belts, 4 Litre LIFELINE plumbed Fire Extinguisher system and Varley Red Top dry cell battery mounted inside the cockpit in a Varley cage and there is a LIFELINE ignition cut off. The shifter has a MOMO gear knob and the period style deep dish racing wheel is adorned by a STACK racing rev counter with a shift light on the dash top whilst the dash centre has RACETECH water temp and oil pressure gauges mounted neatly. There is an ATL 120 Litre boxed bag tank in the rear with twin Facet pumps and the fuel lines are installed inside the car through the car, as are the brake lines (which go via a rear bias/ hydraulic hand brake). The engine bay is extremely well presented and littered with more goodies such as a new HOLLEY carb with EDELBROCK air filter, it has a remote oil cooler, MALLORY distributor and a large RAINBOW electric cooling fan. Lightweight Perspex side/ rear windows have been fitted as have TRS tow straps and it sits on new 5 spoke alloys with fresh DUNLOP Racing M section tyres, the shock absorbers are new KONI items also. Attractively finished in period-style Ford France colours, the car is in excellent condition having only done shakedown and rolling road mileage since build completion. Interestingly it had its first test outing at Goodwood with ex-F1 driver Rupert Keegan at the helm and apart from a few small items (that have since been tended to) it performed well and got a clean bill of health. Offered with UK road registration and FIA HTP papers it is ideal for a wide variety of events worldwide and viewing is highly recommended.
