We recently acquired this Pony from its recent owner in Tennessee. He had always wanted a Classic Mustang and after getting engaged decided that he wanted to pull away the Church with his new bride in a ’65 Mustang Coupe. He located this one from a guy in Alabama who had owned the car for many years and did the cosmetic restoration about 12 years ago. Prior to that it is believed to have spent most of its life in the Sunny, dry state of Texas where it was originally delivered to a dealer in the Houston, Texas area. After owning the car for several months he added a few nice touches to give it the look and sound he wanted for that special day. He and his bride enjoyed their special day and then enjoyed driving this classic Mustang on weekends and to the local shows and cruise-ins. The opportunity to buy a new home meant that this young couple would have to sell their Classic Mustang to help with the down payment. We had it transported to the Atlanta, GA area and now it is ready for its next lucky owner….maybe you??

As you will see the body on this ’65 Coupe is extremely nice!! Having lived its life in the Southern part of the country certainly made a difference as the body is extremely solid and very straight. According to the previous owner, the owner before him in Alabama owned the car for about 15 years and about 12 years ago treated this Pony to a very nice new paint job in its original color, Vintage Burgundy. We had the paint wet sanded and buffed recently and as you will see the paint quality is excellent and this Pony really shines!!! Body panels are very straight and body gaps are excellent. It appears that this Mustang wears its original sheet metal although I do see evidence that it received lower rear quarter patch panels at some point. There is a small spot under the gas cap that has been touched up. Bumpers, grill, chrome trim and emblems all look excellent. Drivers side view mirror shows some age and there is a small rock chip at the bottom of the drivers side windshield. Side windows look great and roll up and down nicely. Overall the body looks awesome and this Mustang gets all the thumbs up and looks you can handle. This is a great little classic to enjoy on weekend drives and to the local shows and cruise-ins. It is not what I would consider show quality but as you will see it is quite nice and will probably win its share of trophies at the local events.

The black standard interior is a great compliment to the original Vintage Burgundy exterior. I believe the seats and carpeting were redone at the same time this Mustang was painted about 12 years. Seats look awesome with no rips or wear. Door panels, dash pad and carpeting all look excellent. Original T-handle 4-speed shifter appears to be original and functions correctly. As you will see there is a nice upgraded Wood steering wheel and a small tach was neatly mounted to the steering column. The speedometer has not been working correctly and may need to be replaced. Fuel gauge is not currently working but I believe a new sending unit should correct this. Other gauges, lights, turn signals are all working correctly. Turn signal lever appears to be original and shows its age. Previous owner had added a stereo that he had mounted under the dash but removed. Front and rear Speakers are still in place and the original am radio is still installed in the dash. Overall as you will see the interior looks great.

This ’65 Coupe was born a C-code 289 V8 2bbl and is an original 4-speed car. The previous owner was told that at the time of the restoration the motor was gone through and rebuilt as needed. He drove the car quite a bit and decided that he wanted to add a few Ponies to the original 289. The previous owner had already added headers years ago but he ran all new exhaust from the headers back with Flow masters that sounds awesome. He also upgraded the original 2bbl to a 4bbl with an Edelbrock performer intake and Holley 4bbl. carburetor. Manual steering and manual front disc brakes. This Mustang handles the road nicely and stops with ease. Front suspension was nicely updated and a front lowering kit was added to give this Coupe a great aggressive stance. Beautiful set of 16×8 Vintage Wheels were recently added and the Falken radials are practically brand new. The previous owner had taken several 2 hour drives and indicated the car performed great with no overheating issues. The engine bay has been nicely detailed and you will be proud to pop the hood at the local shows and cruise-ins. Original Vin # is stamped in the drivers inner fender and the original door tag is also included but is not currently attached to the drivers door. Inside of the trunk is also in great shoe with no rust issues. A correct trunk mat was added and it appears that the fuel tank had been replaced at some point as well. Front and rear frame rails look great with no rust issues and floorpans are also rock solid. Overall this is a nice running Classic Mustang that sounds awesome!

Make sure you listen to the video to hear it running!!

Hopefully you can see that overall this Vintage Burgundy, 4-speed ’65 Mustang Coupe is a great little Pony that is ready to drive and enjoy just as it sits. Of course it could also easily be taken up to the next level if desired and is a great starting point for someone who wants to put their own personal touches on it. These Classic Mustangs have proven to be some of the best investment cars on the market and with the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang coming up now is the time to get one!!!!
