1930 Dodge Five Window Coupe

241ci Hemi, TH350 Automatic, VIN: DA109374

Silver Green Metallic with Saddle Leather Interior

John and Horace Dodge began their start in the automotive industry by supplying engines and transmission to R.E. Olds. Later, they sold engines, transmissions, and axles to Henry Ford for his automobiles. By 1913 Ford had moved away from purchasing these components, to producing and adapting them to their own machine. The Dodge brothers adapted to this change and the loss of business by producing their own vehicles. The brothers had enough financial backing to be successful and to produce an automobile that was high in quality and durability at an affordable price. By the 1920's, the Dodge Company had reached second place in total sales production. Around 1930 the 'Dodge Brothers' Company became known as just 'Dodge'. After purchasing the company Chrysler began using the Dodge Company to produce small, light, and fast vehicles. This 1930 Dodge Five Widow Business Coupe and was one of the most popular of the body-styles Dodge produced in 1930.

In 1951, Chrysler introduced their new line of V8 motors, popularly known as the "HEMI", because the combustion chamber was fully machined into the shape of a 1/2 dome or hemi-sphere. This was the first use of the HEMI Engine in an American passenger car engine. The intake and exhaust valves were located on opposite sides of the combustion chamber at 90 degrees to the cylinder bore axis, so separate individual rocker shaft assemblies (two on each head) were necessary to operate and control all sixteen Intake and Exhaust valves. It also centralized the spark plug location, making the flame travel shorter. This design gave the Hemi, terrific breathing capability. It also gave the combustion chamber, greater thermal efficiency. These engines run cooler because of having a greater surface for heat transfer along with large cooling passages. This design also allowed higher compression ratios, due to its larger volume.

This 1930 Dodge combines the very popular five window coupe styling with the famous hemi engine. Built as a nostalgia street rod from an all steel no rust body the vehicle is an outstanding example. The stock chassis has a dropped front axle with a Ford axle with coil over shocks. The engine is serial number D44-127147 a 1953 241ci Dodge Red Ram Hemi bored 30 over with an Offenhauser intake manifold, Holley carburetor, Sanderson headers, DUI HEI Ignition, GM style water pump and aluminum radiator with electric cooling fans. The transmission is a GM turbo 350 automatic. The wiring harness and electronics are all new.

The interior is show quality custom two tone saddle leather that includes the seat, door panels, and headliner. The interior has more room that you see in most 30’s hot rods. The coupe has a tilt steering column with leather grip custom steering wheel with teak inlays, Stewart-Warner classic in dash instrument cluster, Sun Super Tachometer, Alpine COM-7833 AM/FM/CD Radio, custom lighting, storage console behind the seat, vintage Mopar heater, and all new tinted glass. The trunk area has been upholstered to match the interior for a show car look.

The restoration was completed to high standards and the car presents extremely well. The silver green metallic paint is excellent along with the bodywork and door alignment as it should be on an outstanding hot rod, as are the chrome, stainless, wheels and glass. The wheels are traditional style American Torque Thrust with B. F. Goodrich tires, 165/70R-15 front and 285/70R-15 rear. The running boards are teakwood to match the inside and give the car a trick look.

This hot rod was built to drive and presents extremely well. This is an outstanding opportunity to acquire an iconic 1930 Dodge HEMI Coupe. It is in superb shape and is nicely equipped and beautifully presented. Cool
