When up close and personal with Fords GT500, it becomes clear the firms designers focused on creating a car that looks tailored and substantial in comparison to its lesser counterparts. And this killer Mustang, with its high quality body kit, panther-like stance and completely blacked out exterior, is about as substantial as it gets! At the front of this mean mare, a familiar Mustang grille hangs an offset cobra emblem between halogen headlights, a carbon fiber splitter and a sculpted front valence thats complete with traditional fog lamps. At the top of that grille, a Super Snake hood centers a flat Shelby stripe between mandatory stainless pins, chip-free factory glass and a flawless cloth roof. At the base of that glass, a billet antenna and aggressive side scoops frame capped mirrors, NASCAR Edition emblems and carbon fiber rockers. And at the back of those rockers, segmented tail lights, a bold SHELBY script and a GT500-exclusive faux fuel filler hang between a large, trunk-mounted spoiler and an aggressive valence thats pierced by polished exhaust tips.
Created as a turnkey package for enthusiasts who want a reliably engineered Mustang that unlocks the full potential of Fords legendary mod motor, the Shelby Super Snake utilizes a Shelby/Ford Racing supercharger to crank out an astonishing 605 horsepower. To the left of the cars compact blower, a cold air induction system combines with a reusable filter element to marry a clean appearance with excellent efficiency. At the sides of that blower, dynamic Shelby coil covers combine with a thick Ford Racing tower brace to dress things up a bit. And in front of the blower, slick Shelby fluid caps combine with optional Shelby coolant tanks to add stellar form to increased function. As with all Shelby specialties, this Mustang proudly displays multiple Shelby American badges that verify its authenticity. Aesthetically, the spotless mill features a typical OEM-level appearance that displays hardly any signs of usage. And when you twist the eager engines key, you become the lead composer of a veritable orchestra of sinister whines and octane-fueled roars!
As most performance car fans already know, this Mustangs SVT-tuned suspension is nothing short of excellent. And with a few of Shelbys aftermarket bolt-ons, it sticks to the corners like the high speed luge winner at the 2010 Winter Olympics. The firms upgrades began with a Shelby/Eibach suspension that straightens the curves, progressed to Shelby/Baer brakes that scrub big speed, and ended with 20-inch Shelby/Alcoa wheels that keep power to the ground. Behind the smooth engine, a slick-shifting Tremec TR6060 6-speed sends power to big, 3.73 gears and a Ford limited slip differential. At the corners of the car, the aforementioned Baers, which happen to be red-detailed, 6-piston units, squeeze giant drilled and slotted rotors behind standard Shelby brake ducts. Turns come courtesy of Fords super-efficient power-assisted steering. Exhaust flows through large-diameter pipes to bright, Borla branded tips. Naturally, Fords standard ABS and traction control systems are all present and accounted for. And all this first class speed and agility rides on the aforementioned Shelby/Alcoa kicks, which spin sticky 255/35 front and 275/35 rear Pirelli P Zeros around a highly polished finish.
