Despite starting life in Wolfsburg in 1974, this Beetle has been back-dated to a pre-’67 body style and given the ‘Resto-Cal’ look – appearing largely standard but with period accessories and a low stance. The body is completely free of rust and benefits from having a new floor-pan within the last five years. All panels are steel and the car is finished in a gorgeous Miami Blue. The paintwork is superb and the engine bay, door shuts and boot are all equally well finished. Inside this Beetle is in exceptional condition having been recently completely retrimmed including new carpets. The dash has been smoothed, as was often done back in the day. Mechanically this Beetle is as good as it gets. The current owner is a professional mechanic and it shows in how well set up the car is and how nicely it drives. The engine is a AS41 Magnesium block 1600, a new clutch has recently been fitted, the gearbox has a Empi quick-shift, which gives a superb change. The brakes have all been replaced with new cylinders, shoes and drums (custom to allow the ‘wide-5’ wheel fitment). The shock absorbers are new and so are the deep-dish wheels and tyres. Despite being lowered, the Beetle rides very well with no crashing, it stops well and the engine starts instantly and provides extremely good performance. A very cool Beetle that has had a huge amount of hours and money spent on it ensuring there are no nasty surprises around the corner. Must been seen and driven to appreciate. Superb value for money.
