Body-off restoration ... Horizon Blue ... Oak bed ... 216 CID 6 cylinder ... 4-speed manual transmission ...
From 1947 to 1955, Chevrolet trucks were first in sales in the United States, and it was not without good reason. Part of Chevrolet’s “Advanced Design” series, they represented the first major redesign after World War II. Young American soldiers were returning home eager to get back to work, and the new Chevrolet trucks were just the thing to help them do it.
This beautiful 1954 Chevrolet 3100 ½ ton pickup benefits from a body-off restoration that was just completed. Largely stock in appearance, its Horizon Blue finish will catch your eye. Those who like originality will appreciate the fact that this pickup retains all of its original metal. Adding to its fresh appearance are new front and rear bumpers and new emblems. In addition, with the exception of the corner windows, all glass has been replaced. A solid oak bed and a new set of Coker whitewall tires complete the look.
The interior features a comfortable bench seat that has been recently recovered in black vinyl. Matching interior door panels provide a harmonious look. The interior also benefits from new black carpeting. The additional of modern seat belts and new two-speed windshield wipers (on the rare occasion that you get caught in a sprinkle) will keep you safe on trips to your local car show or ice cream parlor. Bespeaking its work truck heritage, this truck was ordered with radio and heater deletes.
Under the hood you will find a 216 CID inline 6 cylinder engine that came from a 1953 Chevrolet truck with low mileage. The engine is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. The existing powertrain runs and drives strong, but the original 1954 235 CID inline 6 cylinder engine will be included with sale if so desired. The truck benefits from the following mechanical updates:
• New gas tank
• New oil lines
• New brake lines
• New brake drums & shoes
• New master cylinder
• New battery
• New alternator
One item of note is that the speedometer and odometer are not currently working. Total mileage is unknown. Additionally, some imperfections in the finish should be noted, but these do not detract from the overall appearance of the truck.
If a classic truck with a stock appearance and driving experience is what you desire, this 1954 Chevy 3100 pickup is for you!
