Description

Chassis number: GAR28 Registration number: YAJ717 Coming from no lesser personage then the Grandson of Col. Rippon himself; We cannot think of a better provenance! The car was originally ordered by Lady Harrowing of Whitby. Hearsay & documents with the car allude to use by Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin. After A well documented sojourn in the USA where it arrived showing just 36,000 miles, the car was for some years in the collection of the late Mike Berry; a man renowned for the quality of his cars. This 25/30 is a very low mileage example having covered a documented 62,000 miles from new. As a result the car has a taut new feel to it mechanically unlike so many of the high mileage examples one comes across. The ride is smooth & undulating; The engine so quiet one imagines it may have stalled as the car eases to a standstill. The paintwork is in excellent condition in a deep blue over black which is the cars original colours. It polishes up to a deep lustrous shine & looks stunning. A large motoring trunk comes with the car that fits on the rear fold out luggage shelf. A spotlight augments the large head lamps & a single sidemount spare sits on the drivers side running board. To the front is deep blue horse-hide leather in excellent condition extending to the door cards; royal blue carpets completing the look. (Unlike our supermarket friends we always declare when selling Horse products to the unsuspecting public.) The rear is absolutely untouched original & in really super order. Recent tweed covers are fitted over the arm rests & rear seat which has perfectly preserved the fabric underneath. It is utterly original & a really lovely place to be. Twin patented Rippon occasional swiveling seats fold out from the division bulkhead. Woodwork throughout is original, lovely & with the delicate patina of age which is impossible to replicate in a restorers shop. Under the bonnet the car is clean & tidy. All large tools are in their appointed places. The engine has had top & bottom end rebuilds & new pistons. As a consequence it runs in utter silence exhibiting excellent oil pressure & the temperature running cool. An almost full small tool set resided under the front seats. The gear box is buttery smooth with not a hint of wear to it. Unusually for a division car, there is a large sun roof fitted to the front allowing for semi alfresco motoring; the front quarters being reasonably capacious allowing for my 6ft plus frame to drive the car in comfort. Numerous works have been done to the car in recent years with the car being looked after on an open cheque book basis. The car has been recently re-wired by wiring specialist Winston Teague in correct braided wire with Ross Courtney fittings to the wire ends. A stainless steel exhaust system extends from one end of the car to the other. New hoses are fitted throughout as are new tyres. The car is thus absolutely ready to go & has been recently serviced also. It is a way way above average car with low mileage & impeccable ownership history. A signed book on Rippon Brothers Ltd will come with the car.
