1966 Ford Mustang Convertible: Show/Magazine Car
This 1966 Mustang convertible is restored to show standards, from the clean-as-a-pin undercarriage to the beautiful paint/chrome on its topside. A few highlights:
• Chosen as the feature car in Mustang Monthly shortly after its restoration
• Numerous Mustang Club of America national awards including Gold at their 2011 Grand National meet
• Documentation of the car’s restoration with 2” of receipts
• Rally-Pac, Deluxe outside mirrors and chrome luggage rack—all 1966 Mustang options
• Five virtually new Dual Redline Tires mounted on Mustang Styled Wheels (option in ’66)
• Fresh upholstery & carpet
• New power top
• Overhauled engine with receipts
• Overhauled transmission with receipts
This Mustang convertible was restored to MCA Concours Show Quality standards and has been shown in the Street Driven Concourse division.
They don’t get any Nicer!
• Paint and Chrome
Finished in its original Silver Frost, the respray is of show-level quality. To say that it is “showroom fresh” would be incorrect because the paint work is superior to the original factory finish.
The chrome all looks fresh as you would expect in a car with this judging provenance.
The body and underside of the car are free of any apparent rust issues (see pictures). The underside is almost as clean and shiny as the top!
The red upholstery was redone as original and makes an excellent contrast with the Silver Frost exterior. The door panels, padded dash and console were all redone/replaced to the original specs.
The padded dash is in excellent condition and free of cracks. All of the engine/systems monitoring gauges (temperature, amp, fuel and oil pressure) work properly. Similarly, the speedometer works, as does all of the safety equipment (lights, horn, wipers, etc.).
This is a fully rebuilt C-code 289 V-8, believed by the owner to be original to the car. The rebuild was done about 4,000 miles ago for which we have the receipts. The engine starts right up and runs well. It is nestled in a fully-detailed engine bay and has the engine dress-up kit installed, but the owner has the original valve covers and air filter which will be included as part of the sale.
The automatic transmission, also believed by the owner to be the original unit, was overhauled and we have the receipts for that work. It works, as one would expect, properly.
Since much of the car was done with the objective of showing it at national car shows, the 5 nearly newP195/75R14 Dual Redline tires mounted on Deluxe Styled Wheels —as original—have very little use since new.

An Excellent Example of one of Ford’s Most Popular and Collectible Cars
Finding a 1966 Mustang convertible done to such a high level would require going to the national meet show grounds! These first-generation Mustang convertibles are highly in demand and therefore represent not just a great driving experience but a sound investment as well. Having one with the show provenance and magazine coverage is a rare car indeed. You may find other Mustangs but are unlikely to find one nicer than this.
