Registration Number: EU Registered Chassis Number: TBA The Lancia Fulvia was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1963 and produced through to 1976. Fulvias are notable for their role in automobile racing history, including winning the International Rally Championship in 1972. On testing it in 1967, Road & Track summed up the Fulvia as a precision motorcar, an engineering tour de force. The Fulvia was available in three iants, 'Berlina' (4 door saloon) 'Coupe' and 'Sport', as is on offer today (an alternative coupe designed and built by Zagato on the Coupe floorpan). Designed by Ercole Spada, the Fulvia Sport had a line with very modern and sleek fastback tail. Launched in 1965, the Sport Coupe had the same mechanics - except the rear axle ratio - but thanks to better aerodynamics reached a higher top speed. The cars were never used in competitive rallies because of the greater sensitivity of the monocoque on which rested the aluminum body and the general characteristics were more suitable for use on the track. This Fulvia Sport Zagato is finished in a most attractive colour combination of white with black leather interior. Having covered what is believed to be a genuine 77,000 kilometres from new, the bodywork and general condition suggest that this Sport Zagato has always been kept to a very high standard. Buyers should be aware that this lot has formed part of a large private collection and has been stored for some time in a heated environment; as such some remedial work may be required. A light service has just been carried out by racing specialist Terry Keys Motorsport and a mechanical report from Terry Keys will be supplied in the history file at the auction. Undoubtly one of the most attractive and striking Lancia's ever produced, the Sport Zagatos have seen a steady rise in value over the last few years, and still seen by many as being undervalued. As a Zagato- bodied car with effortless flair, this example represents reasonably priced classic motoring combined with stylish Italian looks.
