1960 Triumph TR3A with removable hardtop In 1957 the TR3 was updated. The updates included a new wider front grille, exterior door handles and lockable boot handle. This facelifted model, built between 1957 and 1962, is now commonly referred to as the Triumph TR3A. However the cars were not badged as such and, as is evident from contemporary sales brochures, the TR3A name was not used officially. The total production run of the TR3A was 58,236. This makes it the third best-selling TR after the TR6 and TR7. It is estimated that only 9,500 of the original 58,000 built survive in the world today. The Triumph TR3 was the first production car to include standard disc brakes, which were continued on the TR3A facelift. The car was known for its superior braking ability, making it an autocross favourite Our car has had only 3 owners, and has been well looked after by all of them. Its history includes several years in Hong Kong. A substantial file contains the history of refurbishment and servicing The car has covered only 7,000 miles in the last 12 years, during which time the following works have been carried out:- Body restoration and repaint Engine and carb rebuild Gearbox and overdrive rebuild New radiator and water pump Brake rebuild Suspension rebuild including Nylatron bushes, recon shocks and new springs. Steering rebuild, including fitment of TR4 trunnions, ball joints and upper arms for improved response There are many other invoices for running replacements and servicing as well as an invoice from Honeybourne Mouldings for the hardtop.
