This glorious automobile is finished in dark blue with black wings and running boards with deep powder blue wire wheels complimented by a black soft top and side screens. The interior is finished in dark grey upholstery with grey carpets. The vehicle is fitted with many period extras including badge bar and badges, Pratts side mounted red petrol can, side mounted toolbox in black, glass side wind deflector screens with mirrors and chrome Maxwell footsteps and wing guards along with the outside water temperature gauge. The Maxwell was from 1904 a familiar name in the early years of the American Motor industry and by 1908 was the USA's fourth largest automotive manufacturer. Following expansion in 1914 the Maxwell name was elevated to one of America's 'Big Three' with Fords and Buick being the other two household names. However after WWI the Maxwell line had been phased out by the Chrysler Corporation. This shining 1923 example has been given a full nut and bolt ground up restoration to concours plus condition which in our opinion would cost about £10000 to complete today. The restoration included a new ash frame, full body restoration, new upholstery and a full retrim with new carpets also being fitted. A full mechanical overhaul was undertaken and the vehicle was fitted with new all weather equipment. As far as we can see - nothing was missed on this amazing comprehensive restoration. Upgrades and improvements since its importation from New Zealand in 2006 have included the conversion of the electrics to 12 volts and the fitting of new half shafts, an alternator, a master switch and a wiper motor with voltage converter. The magneto has been rebuilt, the radiator recored and the steering overhauled with new kingpins, bushes and track rod end fitted. The braking system has been fully checked. All road wheels have been rebuilt and the engine 'top end' manifolds and the carburettor have been overhauled. It is a real head turner bringing a bygone age
