The model 99 was added to the range in 1956 in order to provide a machine with more power than the existing 500cc model 88 with the extra torque quickly establishing its popularity. The larger capacity was achieved by increasing both the bore and the stroke of the engine with which it is otherwise identical. The original magneto and dynamo electrics were replaced in 1958 by a coil distributer alternator set up. The Wideline featherbed frame on the first model 99 was superseded by the slimline in 1960, coinciding with a twin carburettor. This 1962 example of the dominator 99 was the subject of a full ground-up restoration by the late owner in 1999. During this restoration, the late owner sourced and used as many new parts as were possible in order to maintain originality throughout. The motorcycle has recently been recommissioned by Rosner Cycles of Sanderstead and is presented in excellent condition. This Slimline 99 Dominator with only 5,000 miles shown on the speedo (which we believe to be correct) is only offered for sale due to bereavement. This motorbike has been part of a private collection since the early 90's. It has matching numbers throughout and an original transferable registration number, even down to the original number plates - this bike is a wonderful example of British Motoring history which is in a ready to use, first-class condition which would adorn any motorbike collection. Sold with a large history folder containing V5C, original green logbook, invoices, previous MOT certificates, certificate from the vintage Motor Club confirming that the bike is correct with all matching numbers etc.
