This Biarritz just emerged from long term storage. With only 52K Original Miles this is still a very original car. It has had a single repaint, some time between the Nixon-Carter administrations by the looks of it. Overall the body is quite sound with minimal corrosion. The passenger rear inner wheel well and rear rocker area will need some attention but the front floors and frame are solid. Rear floors may need some minor patching.
The chrome & bright trim are still in amazing shape given that this car is closing in on 57 years of age. The wheels are factory Cadillac Sabre wheels with a Gold Sabre still in the trunk! The rear bumpers on this car are actually cast aluminum and have a nice shine. The rare and hard to find ELDORADO letters on the trunk are all present. The windshield trim, that are so often damaged, is in good condition as well.
The original Numbers Matching 365 has the High Performance Dual Quad Option with the famous 'Bat-Wing Air Cleaner' factory rated at (a huge for the day) 325 Horsepower. This is the true Money Option on this car and separates it from the lesser-value single carb Biarritzs. Prior to firing up the Biarritz from long term storage the carburetors were rebuilt, oil changed and the fuel tank flushed. The 365 now fires up easily and sounds great. With only 52k miles the engine should be in great shape for many more miles and the next 57 years!
Inside the factory leather interior is showing wear from age. The leather has the typical cracking but the seats are still sound for restoration, I am sure any PETA members will shake in horror at the square footage of leather required. The interior chrome is all present and most of it is still in great condition. There is some pitting on some pieces but overall quite impressive considering the age. It is amazing the quality of the original chrome in these cars. The top mechanism in this car is chrome as well with nice plating and it works properly too. The top upholstery was replaced some time ago but is in great condition.
The options these cars came with is simply amazing for the day. Creature comforts we take for granted in todays cars like power top, power windows, power seat, auto dimming lights, power trunk release and automatic trunk closing are fully functioning options on this car! It is truly amazing that these still work and a testament to how well these cars were built.
This is a very rare opportunity in the automotive world. Not only by a rarity issue but by an investment standpoint. A restored Biarritz recently sold at auction for $187k at RM Auctions and another at Russo & Steele for $194k, not to mention #0001 selling for $649,000. With these types of prices it is easy to see the investment side of this car. It is a complete, numbers matching, running and driving car. There are very few parts that will be needed for a quality restoration as the 'hard to find parts' are there and largely in working order.
Please, take a good look at the videos. We plan on having 3 of them for you including a walk around, a test drive and an interior and electrical video showing the options working. Also plenty of pictures. If there is anything you need in addition to these, please give us a call so we can go over this car with you in person. We offer 'Facetime' for I-Phone users as well as Skype.
