Description

1968 Chevrolet Camaro L30 327/275hp VIN: 124378L327081, Engine Number: 18L327081 T0108EA LeMans Blue with Blue Interior The 1968 Camaro looked very similar to the 1967 externally. Small body changes included the addition of side marker lights (due to a new gov¬ernment mandate), a pointier front grille, and divided rear taillights. Due to the 1968's new Astro Ventilation fresh-air-inlet system, gone were the sides vent windows. The 1968 Camaro's suspension was much im¬proved, thanks to the new five-leaf rear springs that worked with repositioned rear shocks. The new rear suspension not only delivered improved handling, but virtually eliminated wheel hop. Inside, the 1968 Camaro was similar but incorporated a new center console, newly styled door panels, and circular Astro Ventilation vents on the outer edges of the dash. In late 1968, John Z. DeLorean became general manager of Chevrolet Motor Division, taking over from Elliott M. "Pete" Estes. Industry trade journals reported that 184,735 Camaro's were built at the Norwood, Ohio, plant and 49,064 Camaro's were made at a factory in Van Nuys (Los Angeles), California. This Camaro was built at the Van Nuys factory during the third week of January 1968 and still retains its complete original drivetrain. The Camaro is optioned with air spoiler equipment, front white accent stripe, style trim group, deluxe seat belts with shoulder belts, special interior group, Soft-Ray tinted glass, rosewood steering wheel, Radio, (a custom radio with AM/FM/CD has been installed in the glove department), two front and rear speakers, power steering, power front disc brakes, center console with special instrumentations, L30 327ci 275hp engine with all smog equipment still intact, M-20 Saginaw 4-speed manual transmission, 3:07 12 bolt positraction rear axle, heavy duty driveshaft & universal joints, rear brake proportioning valve, dual exhaust, and rally wheels with BF Goodrich T/A white letter radial tires. Most all factory correct components including the spare, jack, jack tools, seat belts, shifter, and air cleaner. The original Camaro has had one repaint and is still very nice. The glass, chrome, stainless, beauty rings, and center hub caps are excellent. The 100% original interior, door panels, upholstery, dashboard, carpets, instruments and switches are in good condition. The engine compartment is extremely clean and has been very nicely detailed. Correct finishes are applied on the engine, and the components are not over-restored. The Camaro is an original California ‘black plate tagged vehicle” and includes the original front and rear plates. This is an outstanding opportunity to acquire a nicely original 4-speed Camaro that is documented with the Protect-O-Plate warranty booklet, window sticker, and original owner’s manual. The original selling dealer was Frink Chevrolet in Sacramento, California. The Camaro is in superb shape and is nicely equipped and beautifully presented in Lemans Blue with the original Blue interior.
