SOLD.....As it had done in the past, Ford achieved a milestone in the 1936 model year, making just the right styling adjustments to create another car that was destined to become a classic. Interior room was increased by widening the body and moving the engine forward 8.5 inches, and more curvaceous styling and improved ride quality attracted more buyers then any year since 1932. The roomy 4-door convertible sedan made a great family car then, and it still does today in examples like this beautiful custom rod from a small and very well cared-for private collection. The only convertible sedan known to survive with the rare 4-taillight option, the car’s all-steel body was still in excellent condition prior to the car’s restoration, and flaws that needed addressing were handled with the time-honored technique of picking and filing, a time consuming and expensive method practiced by the best craftsman to keep filler to a minimum. As a result, the car’s deep Black finish has a mirror-like quality that must be seen to be appreciated. That same commitment to excellence is in evidence throughout; for instance, the hand-crafted Maroon leather upholstery used on the seats and interior panels – six hides in all – remains tight as a drum and shows masterful stitching and fit elegant Black fabric convertible top. The louvered hood opens to reveal a fully dressed Chevrolet 350 CI small block backed by a Lokar-shifted 350 Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission and the ever dependable Ford 9-inch third member.Driving is made easy with power steering, disc and drum brakes and Heidt's independent front end. Car sits on staggered-size rubber on Red painted steelies with bright trim finish off this excellent vintage Ford.
