Here it is, one of The Nicest Cougar Convertibles we have seen. It is optioned well with Power Front Disc Brakes, Power Steering, Tilt Steering Column, Rim Blow Steering Wheel, Leather Interior, Full Gauges, Center Floor Console, Air Conditioning, Power Top and More. The paint is Beautiful and has just been wet-sanded and buffed to a mirror finish. Much of the chrome and bright trim have either been re-plated, re-finished or replaced. Take a good look at the photos. The grill in this car is amazing as is the hood molding, both very hard to get done right. The bumpers appear to have been replated and are outstanding. The trunk was painted nicely and is fitted with a formed rubber mat, correct jack, jack handle, spare tire and tail light wiring covers. Trunks are often an over-looked area, but not on this Cougar! I see no obvious signs of rust or corrosion, super nice shock towers, floors, frame rails and torque boxes. This is a great looking and structurally sound Cougar!
Inside the car the interior is largely original and the leather is still quite nice. The dash has been completely restored and Looks Incredible! A large amount of money was spent at Cascade Classic Cougars (in Edgewood, WA) to bring this dash up to original condition. Please, look at the photos! The carpet is the correct 80/20 as Cougars would have. The seat belts were restored and look excellent. The Rim-Blow Steering Wheel works properly and the tilt column is tight. When the dash was restored the heater box was rebuilt as well with a new heater core, new drain for the evaporator and the evaporator was cleaned and sealed. Full photo documentation of this work comes with the car. You will be hard pressed to find a nicer car than this.
The Power Convertible Top is in excellent condition and fits tight. The hydraulic system works perfectly and the latches work excellent.
The suspension and steering were also restored at Cascade Classic Cougars. The car drives well and the steering is nice and tight. This car drives just like it did back in '69. In fact, it drives even better thanks to better tires and a larger sway bar from a Big Block Cougar that was added as a nice upgrade.
Under the hood the 351 is a Factory Ford Rebuild and comes with receipts. The work was done in 2000. The engine was at that point upgraded with an Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold & Carburetor and a rebuilt distributor with a Pertronix Ignitor Electronic Ignition System. The engine runs excellent and is detailed with Finned Aluminum Valve Covers and Air Cleaner badged with the famous Prowling Cat.
