1940 Ford Pickup More and more you are seeing the cool cars created by Henry Ford being modified to drive with Chevrolet drive trains. This may be preferred by some but it makes it really cool when you see a Ford in a Ford. Even better is when its in a classy truck like this. These vintage trucks are really starting to make a comeback and have their own huge following in the classic car hobby. The 1940 Ford you see here is the ultimate Pickup truck that was extremely well done. The car has an awesome classic look with some custom touches that really look great. It was entirely professionally built with very high quality workmanship. The body is coated in a nice deep Red that has a beautiful finish. It has been chopped 1 1/2 for just the right look. The front and rear bumpers are nicely mounted in place and are chromed. The front ends on this vintage of Ford are very unique with a chrome/paint combination grill that feeds into the original style hood trim. All of the trim pieces/grill are Bob Drake components. The teardrop headlights are nicely mounted in chrome bezels with inset LED taillights in rear. The split front windshield has the nice chrome trim in the center and the glass is crystal clear. The gas filler is found in the left rear fender that is nicely smoothed into place. A custom made solid tonneau cover is in place and is power operated. The wheels on this truck look as though they were made for it. They are Dayton wire wheels and finish the exterior off perfectly. The are 20 in rear, 17 up front and are wrapped with Falken Z rated tires. This car has won a ton of awards from the Tucci pro pick to a Streetrodder top 10. It has just appeared in Classic Truck magazine and it wouldnt surprise us if more magazines shoot it down the road. If your expecting to see a tame 302 under there then guess again. Powering up this custom is a 5.4 Liter supercharged/injected engine directly from Ford Racing. The SVT motor has an air to water intercooler, BBK valve covers and cranks out a lot of horsepower. It runs extremely well and has plenty of torque to put you back in your seat. Various components including the radiator are coated Red to match the truck. One off custom made engine covers are in place which really give it a clean finished off look. Custom inner fender panels are also in place and have been louvered. This is paired with a TCI automatic transmission with overdrive that was built to handle this motor. The suspension on the car is just as nicely put together as the rest with all the top components. An Air Ride technology Shockwave front end is in place with a Heidts powder coated tubular control arm cross member. The rear end is nicely painted to match the truck with chrome coil overs in place. All of the undercarriage components are painted or polished and are just as detailed out. The interior is nicely done in Black leather with nicely mounted polished accents. The Reccaro seats are extremely comfortable and fit nicely in place. To the floor is mounted a custom console that houses the polished shifter, power window controls, front air ride controls, power bed lid control, and the power operated cowl vent control. The dash is nicely coated in Red and is topped with white faced Auto Meter gauges. A Vintage Air a/c system is in place and runs through nicely mounted vents. The Banjo style polished steering wheel has a V8 horn button and looks great on this Pickup. On the headliner is a custom mounted Alpine AM/FM/CD player that utilizes a hidden antenna. One of the coolest parts of these old trucks is the wooden bed. Not all Pickups have this but when they do and it has been nicely restored there is nothing better. The wood bed has all been re varnished are are hand rubbed. The stainless strips all have hidden bolts and have a nice shine. Inside the interior is a battery cut off switch with jumper posts nicely mounted under the bed. You wont find another truck like this anywhere else. Its fast, has a great look, and is very unique.
