Being offered for sale is a head turning, throw yourself back in the seat 1966 SS396 Chevelle CLONE. This is a car that runs very strong all around and cruises very smooth and quietly, even with Hooker Headers. However, if you want the thrill and awesome sound of a Chevy big block, simply put the peddle to the metal and the car comes magically alive and will plant you in the seat while grabbing the pavement below and offering the sweet throaty sound that comes from the Hooker Headers and 3” exhaust. This is a car that easily breaks the tires in the first three gears and more importantly stops on a dime with power front disc brakes. This Chevelle CLONE is operationally very sound and an absolute blast to drive.

When purchased by the seller in December 2010, the exterior was restored as it presents today. The body was stripped to bare metal, a complete new full rear quarter( rear wheel hubs, trunk pan and floor sections) were installed by a professional body man with 40 years experience. The body is nice and straight. It was block sanded and painted torch red with base coat and 3 coats of clear, then sanded and buffed to a mirror image shine. All the chrome, stainless trim, badges on the exterior, door handles and locks are new. The glass is rated 9 +. The car has a new antenna and rides on new radial tires.

The interior received quite a bit of refurbishing. The factory console and shifter were rebuilt. The factory bucket seats appear to be original and are in ok condition, with two slight separations in the seams in the driver’s seat. The carpet is fairly new. The car has a brand new factory dog ear shifter, new headliner, new dash chrome, new dash pad, all new door panels and fully adjusted window regulators, all new wiring harness thru out the car including fuse panel, new radio, all gages were rebuilt, new heater core and restored heater box, underside of dash totally restored, rebuilt heater/ defroster/blower control levers and cables, Vintage Sun gages under dash, and new clock that works, in the console.

The engine is a 396ci/360hp bored .30 over and Dyno Tuned in 2011, with less then 1,200 miles. The car has a brand new HEI ignition, bell housing, pressure plate, clutch, pilot and throw out bearings, a freshly rebuilt M20 4-Speed manual transmission, with a rebuilt original Muncie shifter, rebuilt driveshaft and universal joints, new 12 bolt rear end 3:73 Eaton Posi w/ new axles and bearings, new rear upper /lower control arms, spring, bushings and all new hardware on the rear end. The radiator is aluminum and runs 180 degrees in the middle of the summer. The car has brand new power disc brakes up front and new drum brakes on the rear. Power steering and a front end rebuilt with all new parts makes this Chevelle CLONE a breeze to handle. The car stands on new big block coils and shocks and rides on 15” Rally wheels and radial tires.

If you’re looking for a bullet proof, head turning, American Muscle Car that you can enjoy, this 1966 SS396 Chevelle CLONE is worthy of your consideration. Only seeing the car in person and taking it on the road will reveal its true quality and allow you the experience the thrill factor inherent in the car.
