1964 Ford F100: A Full Restoration
Our sale of this fully restored F100 is the equivalent of an “estate sale”. The owner/restorer made this truck his final project and spared no effort in making it one of the nicest looking and best driving pickups we have seen. His work included:
• A nice paint job (superior to the factory finish);
• A totally redone interior;
• A refinished bed with wood planking;
• Power steering and disc brakes;
• An engine bay that sparkles; and, best of all
• A great running pickup that is actually pleasant to drive!
They don’t get much Nicer!
• Paint and Chrome
The burgundy paint on this just-detailed pickup shines almost like new. Better than its original factory finish, this is the truck that you will be proud to take to the shows and country club.
The trim is in very good condition to excellent condition. All of the windows are in good condition (one small rock chip on the windshield) and both driver’s and passenger windows operate correctly.
As would be expected with such a nice restoration, the body and underside of the car appear to be free of any apparent rust issues (see pictures).
The Gray and Black cloth upholstery is in excellent condition; the seat looks virtually new, as does the black carpeting. Similarly, the door panels are in very good condition. The headliner has been replaced as well.
All of the engine/systems monitoring gauges (temperature, fuel and oil pressure) work properly as do the warning lights. Similarly, the speedometer and tach work, as do all of the lights and safety equipment (wipers, horn).
The truck’s replacement 302 V-8 runs strong, and has a nice exhaust note through dual exhausts that lets folks know this isn’t granddaddy’s farm pickup. The engine starts right up and provides plenty of power for modern highway driving.
The floor-mounted FMX automatic transmission is slick as a hounds tooth, and shifts smoothly between the gears.
This truck has both power steering and power disc brakes. It is straight and steady as it drives down the road, and the disc brakes bring it safely to a stop without any pulling from side to side. The front end is a Mustang 2 style with adjustable coil-over adjustable shocks. The four tires are Dunlops mounted on Weld Racing wheels, with 225/70R15s on the front and 275/60R15s on the rear (which may be slightly oversized for the truck).
• Comfort Features
Power steering and power brakes help turn this sharp-looking pickup into a vehicle that any enthusiast will enjoy. What appears to be the truck’s original radio comes on but only buzzes, so it will need a rebuild.
A Great Truck that is awaiting the Next Owner
This ’65 F100 pickup should be high on anyone’s list of classic trucks: great paint, great interior, great mechanicals, and great driving. This vehicle is a testament to one man’s mission to make an older Ford pickup into a comfortable modern driver. While tens of thousands of dollars and many hundreds of hours of time went into this restoration, the next owner will buy at a fraction of its cost a truck that is now ready to be enjoyed and shown.
