1966 A Code Mustang Factory GT Hardtop. $20950.00
Listed at $23,980.00 for Condition 3 at
NOT A CLONE. 217,875 original miles. This is a true factory GT that was delivered to its original owner in 1966 by Harland Griffith Ford, Portland, Oregon. I am its second owner. Mileage and ownership history are fully documented.

This is not a show car and has never undergone restoration or been modified in any way from original. To the original owner, it was his daily driver being at first his only family car and then later, becoming the family’s second car, until a stroke prevented him from driving it any longer. From that point it was stored for several years before he decided he could part with it. Extensive receipts verify maintenance and repairs were completed as required using proper replacement parts.

When I purchased it in March 2006 it became a fair weather Sunday afternoon fun car and a hobby to clean up the engine and refurbish various bits and pieces. It is a lot of fun to drive and I wouldn't hesitate to take it anywhere I wanted to go, be it for a short drive or on a long trip. It attracts a lot of attention and starts conversations whenever I stop anywhere with it.

A quality chrome off paint job was done June 8, 1986 to Warranty Plate Color Code T Candyapple Red and the paint is in very good driver condition. It has some nicks and some small bubbles in the driver fender (please see close up photos) which keep paint from being rated excellent, but it is overall very good. The sheet metal is straight with even gaps around hood, trunk and doors.
The A Code engine (289 Cubic Inch / 4V / 225 HP / 10:1 CR Challenger Special) was rebuilt September 1981 at 165K miles. Compression was 145 to 160 psi and oil pressure was 45 psi when I purchased it March 2006. The carburetor still has the original tag in place and is an Autolite 4100.

Door panels, armrests, seat covers and carpet have all been renewed to Warranty Plate Trim Code 26. Weather stripping, Headliner, Sunvisor Pads and Padded Dash are all in excellent condition.
Original A/M radio, gauges, turn signals, courtesy lights and back up lights are all in proper working order. Has Visibility Group Option (Remote Control Mirror, Day/Nite Mirror and 2 Speed Electric Wipers).

The original Owner’s Manual, Electrical Assembly Shop Manual and Mustang Restoration Manual are included.

Rally Pack is original but tach and clock do not function.

Left front fender was replaced by first owner March 16, 1982 after an altercation with a deer.

Tires are Solar S/R 300 Steel Belted Radials size P195/75 R14 with 50%+ tread left.

Refurbishment would be complete if paint flaws were corrected, Rally Pac inner movements were updated and tires were replaced with dual red band Cokers.

Located in Richmond, Texas, the car is registered as an Antique and has Texas 1966 License plates.
