This is a 1964 Series IV Sunbeam Alpine Convertible with original engine rebuilt in 2005 by RC Classics in Palm Desert,California. A Weber Carburator conversion was part of the engine work, plus upgrades to the master cylinder, radiator, starting motor, water pump, front end and steering bushings, and brake shoe replacements. All invoice work will be included in the sale. Total spent was over $4,000. This "Beamer" has Enkei wheels: 185/60R13/80V from Yokohama,Japan.

Currently, the car has 17,586 miles on the rebuilt engine, which is an in-line 4-cylinder with an automatic transmission conversion. The car measures 13ft.long, 5ft.0.5 inches wide, and 4ft.3.5 inches in height. The wheelbase is 7ft.2inches. Research indicates that only 7,936 cars of this Series IV were produced in England by the Rootes Group Manufacturer. The body is steel,two-door,and two plus two seats. Car is a western vehicle that is rust-free,accident-free,garage kept, and non-smoker owned.

The most recent work was done by Valencia European in August 2011 with the replacement of the left rear brake cylinder,a new Bosch 12-v ignition coil,an installation of a missing bolt for the generator and belt adjustment. Advised at that time that the car may need an idle adjustment, and there is a small oil leak that could easily be fixed. A new 3-year battery was installed December 2011, and the car was completely detailed in early 2012. It is currently licensed for the road with California tags that expire December 2013. The car has a clear title.

The exterior color is the original British Racing Green with very few minor nicks. The tan interior is very clean, with all seats, carpet and convertible top in very good condition. Car does not have a hard top. The "Beamer" has been garage stored by this owner and the previous owner for the last 22 years.

A special "Sahara" Sunbeam car cover is included with purchase. Also, mounted below the dash is a Craig Powerplay cassette/FM/AM stereo deck with "Black Magic" twin speakers that sit on the rear seat.

Buyer will receive the original Owner's Handbook(1964),a valve timing Norris Racing Camshaft Event Chart for the car,and the original Shop Manual/Autobook for Sunbeam Alpine 1-4(1959-65). In the trunk included with the sale is an auto emergency tool kit,a spare,a jack, and some extra parts.

A California ID# was assigned to the car after the original engine was rebuilt and re-mounted in the car. The original VIN# B9403562 for this "Beamer" is written in its Autobook Workshop Manual. From the engine photo, you can see that the remount made the VIN# difficult to read when the former owner went to license it for the road. I was told by a California DMV inspector that when they cannot clearly verify the engine VIN, they send the owner to the CHP to "blue tag" it with a new ID#, which is CA 497308. That number is on the pink slip and inside the driver's door.(see photo) Clearly the autobook was used by the mechanic who rebuilt the engine, judging from all the fingered grease marks on the pages in Chapter I,"The Engine." From the photo of the engine, it is possible to figure out the original VIN# B//9403562 LRX stamped into it. Further research into Sunbeam engine markings indicates the following: L=Left hand drive, export, R=Roadster, and X=Non-Standard.

This "Beamer" shines like a new penny,is fun to drive, and generates a lot of attention on the road.
