Description

This 1957 Porsche 356 A . It is equipped with a Manual transmission. The vehicle is Burgundy with a Black interior. It is offered As-Is, not covered by a warranty. - 1957 Porsche 356A Cabriolet Chassis No. 61497 Engine No. 63931 Rare - Early 356A Cabriolet #497 Stamped Body Panels Numbers-Matching Engine Body Porsche Certificate of Authenticity Original Tool Kit As the rarest standard 356 model offered in 1957, cabriolet production numbers were nearly 1-3rd of that of the Speedster and many times less than the coupe - with few examples remaining. Finished in classy Polyantha Red paintwork over black leather interior, the example offered here received a complete restoration nearly 30 years ago with long-term storage and occasional use following. Today, the exterior finish would be considered drivers quality, glossy but shows separation in areas. Other features include a like-new black padded canvas top, shiny brightwork and proper chrome vented wheels with moon caps. 497 which indicates the last three digits of the VIN number are found stamped on the front bonnet hinge as well as the rear deck lid. The cabin is very tidy overall with black leather chairs and correct German square weave carpeting with rubber floor mats. A vintage Blaupunkt radio and Nardi wood-rimmed wheel are fitted and a corresponding tonneau cover. Both engine and luggage compartments appear solid and clean, including the undercarriage with typical replacement panels. The original 1957 1600cc engine runs healthy as the result of a recent major service to all mechanicals. The 165-15 tires are new, and the car performs well in a variety of road conditions. An ideal example to admire, casually show as-is or take it to the next level The Cab is complete with its original tool kit with accompanying Hollywood Accessories air gauge in sleeve and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
