This design was only available from 1971 through 1973, and added a bit of luxury styling over their sporty Ford counterpart. Today, Cougars are quite desirable for collectors looking for the last muscle cars produced prior to the oil crisis and stiff federal emission controls. Especially with the 1973 being the last of the convertibles! This wonderfully restored 1973 Mercury Cougar Convertible is finished in factory correct Medium Aqua over White Luxury Leather Interior with Black carpet and dash appointments! Its fitted with original, numbers matching 351ci-2V V8 engine producing 168 SAE factory horsepower and 280 ft. lbs. of torque! Behind this powerful Cleveland block mates a reliable FMX automatic transmission and 2.75:1 rear end! This Cougar comes loaded with factory options including power front disc brakes, power steering, factory air conditioning, power convertible top, high-back bucket seats, original looking USA-1 AM/FM Stereo with modern internals and CD controls, deluxe 14 chrome wire covers with white wall tires, dual sport mirrors with driver remote, leather-wrapped steering wheel, front & rear bumper guards, full dual exhaust system, sequential turn signals, body side pin stripes, & wheel well lip moldings! It has seen just one restoration since new and survives with just 85,633 original miles! The car started life in Memphis, TN and from the looks of its rock solid body it likely spent the majority of its life in the south! An up close examination of this exceptional car will please even the strongest of critics. Factory spot welds are seen under hood and across the undercarriage showing signs of original undamaged sheet metal. Something rarely seen on a car almost 40 years old!! You will find an incredible attention to detail under the hood and the factory door sticker is still fully intact! As is the tire changing sticker affixed to the trunk lid! The trunk is nicely detailed with original insulated trunk mat, factory spare tire, locking wheel hold down and special factory lug wrench all in place. The power top works, the air conditioning works, the gauges work, all the driving lights work, even the courtesy light works! The radio works and sounds great. The chrome and trim are very nice and the weather strips are in great condition! The car runs and drives excellent! It shows very well and remains very original throughout!
