This amazing 1968 Mustang convertible is one of those cars where theres not a single component that hasnt been restored, modified, or polished to show standards. Inside, outside, and underneath, it is a stunning machine with near flawless execution and a very long list of show wins to its credit. And its still listed for less than the cost of construction. This car has won many awards like best of interior, best paint, ISCA Outstanding Display Awards, 1st place in the Atlanta World of Wheels, and most notable 4th in the Detroit Autorama Show. One glance at that stunning dark blue paint job and youll have some inkling as to just how nice it is, but its only when you get up close that you see how much time and effort went into the car. The panels are as straight as they were when they were new, perhaps even better. The gaps are the result of someone spending many hours getting them just right. And the final finish has been buffed and rubbed until all flaws were exorcised and the finish was miles deep. Are we impressed? Absolutely. This car is off-the-charts nice in every way. And fortunately for Mustang fans, it hasnt been chopped, cut, or substantially modified, so the fabulous traditional Mustang look remains. All the chrome is still in place, albeit restored to the highest levels, and all the emblems and badges remain. Slap a set of steel GT wheels on it, and it could pass for a concours-level stocker with a custom paint job. Inside, however, its a whole different story. Deeply bolstered custom front buckets replace the flat, slippery originals, and they have been upholstered in luscious blue leather thats glove soft and faultlessly finished. The trim pleats with rings are a nice tip of the hat to the Ford GT40, another 60s icon, and the back seat has been recontoured and upholstered to match, as have the door panels. The original dash has been restored, although the factory gauges have been upgraded to a set of Classic Instruments Velocity instruments with white faces. A/C, a custom sound system, and new wiring ensure new car levels of comfort, entertainment, and reliability, and youll note that even the door jambs have been smoothed and finished to show standards. Overhead a cloth power convertible top fits snugly and gives it an upscale look when its all buttoned up. A 408 cubic inch stroker motor under the hood delivers big block power in a small block package, delivering big power and sharp handling. Its all show under there, too, with polished billet aluminum and chrome everywhere. Theres an aluminum radiator keeping everything cool, along with power rack-and-pinion steering and Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes. A Tremec 5-speed manual transmission routes power back to a 3.55-geared limited slip 8-inch rear, while a Jet-Hot coated exhaust system featuring Flowmaster mufflers looks dynamite against the beautifully finished black floors. Staggered 17-inch Foose aluminum wheels wear fresh Fuzion rubber. This is one of those amazing cars that needs more than space than we can possibly give it here.
