1963 ½ Ford Galaxie 500 Fastback $16,500 – Dunlap. TN
The 1963 ½ Ford Galaxie Fastback has been a long time favorite of mine. This car is the best I have seen in an original survivor car with only 43, 034 actual, documented miles. This second owner purchases the car dated 7/29/1963. The second owner purchased the car 11/12/1977 and at the time the mileage was 29,832 miles. The second owner put the car in storage only driving it very occasionally.
The doors close like a new car and all body gaps are very good. Underneath is very solid and original except for the aluminized exhaust pipes and mufflers. The original undercoating is still intact with no visible rust to be seen anywhere. The body is straight with no paint bubbling found or any rust to be found. The car has had one repaint and would pass as a driver. However, as nice as this car is everywhere, a slick paint job would really make this an outstanding automobile, the interior to be 50 years old, is in almost perfect shape with no rips, tears, or worn areas. The padded dash looks very good and not a crack in it. Nearly all cars of this era have problems with cracked steering wheel, but not this one. Not the first crack anywhere and even the emblem in the horn ring is not faded or discolored. When was the last time you saw that in a 50 year old car? The grill, headlight doors, and rear trim have no blemishes. Chrome on bumpers are very good, side trim is very good only with a few places that would be an easy fix. All glass is clear and scratch free. Tires are new 215/75/14 with factory spoke hub caps with spinners. When the 352 C.I. engine is idling it is so still, only the fan blade moving gives it away. The automatic transmission shifts like new and the power steering makes it an easy driver.
