Description

This spectacular Phaeton is a restored example that was once part of a collection belonging to the former Chief Mechanic for the Auburn, Duesenberg club of America, Bill Bocock. It has won a multitude of awards, even garnering a CCCA National First Prize, Senior and Premier Status. It has also twice received the prestigious ACD Club Ray Falkner Best of Show Award. Awards: CCA National 1st place Primary – 100 pts. CCA National 1st place Senior – 100 pts. ACD Club National 1st place in class Ray & Falkner Best Auburn of show award. ACD Club National 1st place Senior Ray & Falkner Best Auburn of show award. ACD Club Certificate A109 Category . Bill Bocock purchased this Auburn in 1962 and after a couple decades of ownership, began a 4 year ground up restoration of the car. Finished in forest green with teal accents, pale yellow wire wheels, this Auburn shows beautifully. The closer you inspect the car, the more apparent the attention to detail becomes. Interior is equipped with immaculate ginger leather interior, which matches the tan soft top. The chrome and trim on the luxury cars of the 1930’s truly shows the effort that went into the classy and elegant presence that came with their ownership, this Phaeton is no exception to that rule. Bumpers, chrome trim, the grille and even the Auburn flying lady all show in fantastic condition. In addition to their style, the ingenuity and engineering that went into these cars is also impressive, many mechanical features that are just now making their way back into modern cars; the third headlight that turns with the front wheels, adjustable ride hydraulic shocks with dash control and of course other “must haves” for the 30’s such as dual ratio rear axle with dash switch, Bijur automatic chassis lubrication system, Philco Transitone radio, dash clock, Startix automatic starting and a full synchromesh 3 speed transmission with free wheeling function attached to the ultra smooth running 100 hp Lycoming straight 8 cylinder engine. These cars are absolutely stunning to look at, with convention driving controls and the dual ratio rear axle, they can also get around safely, making them a true joy to drive. A car with such pedigree and quality workmanship invested as this car also make for excellent additions to collectors to either sit back and enjoy from a distance or from the drivers seat with the roof down!!
